For my current set of tips, I'm using the list "101 Small Ways You Can Improve Your City.

19. Don’t despair; depave. Working under the banner "free your soil," the Portland, Oregon-based group Depave has been kicking asphalt for a decades, turning unused parking and abandoned lots into community gardens and parks. If you discover an opportunity to literally reclaim your streets, the group has a guide on its website to help get started.

The pool is closed and I have the donation in hand.  I've started posting stuff from Mom & Dad's batch too.  Normally I do theirs later, but in this case some of theirs were chronologically linked with others.  I'm going to close out "To Be Something Stronger and Better."  After that, I'll start posting the Broken Angels poems in serial order, since those have all been sponsored.

The general fund currently has $8, in case anyone else wants to throw random money in there.

If you're still planning to buy stuff, there are plenty of poems left in Shiv's thread.  You've got today and tomorrow to shop in, as the sale will end Sunday night.

I lost the whole morning to yet another power outage, so I'm running behind today.  >_<  I will get on the posting of fishbowl poems next.

This is way above the usual rate of outages, but I thought of something to do about it.  Previously I have ignored cooperative elections because I didn't care who was involved.  I have decided that in the next election, I will try to determine who is currently in office, and vote against all of them.  I still don't care who wins.  I just want the current incompetents to lose.

Anyhow, sorry for the continued delays and interruptions.  We have determined that posting runs up the rate of data usage, but is not untenable, so I'll continue posting and we'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks to a donation from [personal profile] ng_moonmoth , [personal profile] fuzzyred , and [personal profile] edorfaus you can now read the rest of "To Be Something Stronger and Better."  This part is basically fluff because Shiv wore himself out.

Today is cloudy, windy, and cool.  It feels like it might rain again.

I fed the birds.

I have done two rounds of trimming around the cherry grove in the savannah, and the preliminary trim is now done.  I still need to do some touch-up trimming, rake up all the cut branches, and spray weed killer where I don't want things to grow back.  But it's progress.

Hail

It's hailing among the rain, but just a little bit, and normal-sized hail, not the deluge of larger pieces we had recently.  What is unusual is having it hail twice that close together.  :/

Today we made a smoothie with:

1 cup pear nectar
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 orange
1/2 cup pineapple chunks
a splash of coconut milk
1/2 cup ice

This one is a pale, cheerful yellow and has a nice tropical flavor.  It would make a great breakfast smoothie.
