ysabetwordsmith: Cartoon of me in Wordsmith persona (Default)

NOTE: The current plan is to run the fishbowl on Tuesday, April 21 but that's not firm yet.  While daytime weather has been mostly clear, nights have been stormy, causing some damage to towers and thus delays in the setup process.  While we hope to have full internet access next week, we aren't sure if that will happen as initially promised.  So the fishbowl date is still tentative.  I will keep you posted on developments.

This is an advance announcement for the Tuesday, April 21, 2020 Poetry Fishbowl. This time the theme will be "Interspecies Cooperation."  I'll be soliciting ideas for Homo sapiens,  hominids other than Homo sapiens,  fantasy species (elves, dwarves, centaurs, unicorns, dragons, etc.), aliens, uplifted species, animals with superpowers, humans with animal traits, fish out of water, ethicists, activists, heroic leads, antagonists, other people involved in interspecies cooperation, negotiating, mediating, bartering, riding, hunting, cooperative fishing between humans and dolphins, crafting, speaking, listening, reading, writing, discovering yourself, testing boundaries, creating connections, coming of age, learning what you can (and can't) do, shocking people, changing the world, accomplishing the impossible, recovering from setbacks, returning home, wilderness, rural areas, farms, pony clubs, charities, training schools, trading posts, alien planets, fantasy worlds, other places where species work together, teamwork, complementary strengths and weaknsses, interspecies equipment (e.g. saddles), nonhuman furniture (e.g. cat shelves), domestication, white spots, interspecies adoption, etiquette, bigotry, human-animal relationships, virtues, values conflict, betrayal, alienation, rebellion, the heroic journey, personal growth, imprint vulnerability, rites of passage, and poetic forms in particular.

Among my more relevant series for the main theme:

Beneath the Family Tree shows several hominid species living together.

Clay of Life features a friendship between human and golem.

A Conflagration of Dragons has the Six Races plus the dragons.

Diminished Expectations includes the humans, the Diminished, and the oids.

Feathered Nests features interactions between the humans and the alien Fifers.

Frankenstein's Family spans human, vampire, and werewolf cultures.

The Godship Wanderers has humans living with different alien species.

Kande's Quest features humans, war elephants, and white demons.

Kung Fu Robots includes humans and robots.

Monster House is urban fantasy with a wide range of monsters as well as humans.

The Moon Door features humans and werewolves.

Polychrome Heroics has characters from many different species in addition to humans.  .

Starfather is about interspecies adoption.

Submerged Nebraska has sentient manta rays and cockroaches.

The Yellow Unicorns involves humans and unicorns.

Or you can ask for something new.

I have a linkback poem "Putting Everything in Its Place" (9 verses, Arts and Crafts America).

If you're interested, mark the date on your calendar, and please hold actual prompts until the "Poetry Fishbowl Open" post next week.  (If you're not available that day, or you live in a time zone that makes it hard to reach me, you can leave advance prompts.  I am now.)  Meanwhile, if you want to help with promotion, please feel free to link back here or repost this on your blog.

Today is sunny, windy, and chilly.  I fed the birds, including a new suet cake.

I tried to do some yardwork, because I have sunchokes to plant, but it's too windy for that.  >_<  Ah well, I still have lots of indoor work I can do.

EDIT 4/14/20: The wind died down some, though it's no warmer.  I managed to go out and trim a little brush.

Today we made a smoothie with:

1 carton Yoplait vanilla yogurt
almond milk to make 2 cups
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/2 cup frozen sweet black cherries
1/2 cup ice

It's okay, but not great.  The texture is a weird loose-slush that I haven't encountered before and am not all that fond of.

This poem is spillover from the March 17, 2020 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from [personal profile] erulisse and [personal profile] chanter1944. It also fills the "Basmati Blues" square in my 3-1-20 card for the Food Fest Bingo. This poem has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette. It belongs to the Officer Pink thread of the Polychrome Heroics series.
