Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

What good news have you had recently? Are you anticipating any more? Have you found a cute picture or a video that makes you smile? Is there anything your online friends could do to make your life a little happier?

In the 1970s, educator Arleen Lorrance wrote, "Be the change you want to see happen." Which is all well and good, but personally I think one ought to get one's friends to be the change you want to see happen. In that light, I invite you to...

Challenge #15

In your own space, create your own challenge. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

This can be big or small; strictly fannish or extending across all aspects of life; a challenge you saw someone else do, or that used to run and you miss, or something you have thought up just now, or something you yourself are already doing. Earnest, silly, fun, all three! Send us off into the rest of the year by challenging us all to give it a go.

Check out the comments for all the awesome participants of the challenge and visit their journals/challenge responses to comment on their posts and cheer them on

ysabetwordsmith: Damask smiling over their shoulder (polychrome)
This poem is spillover from the June 4, 2019 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from [personal profile] readera, [personal profile] zeeth_kyrah, [personal profile] readera, and [livejournal.com profile] zianuray. It also fills the "Home" square in my 6-1-19 card for the Cottoncandy Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by a pool with [personal profile] fuzzyred, [personal profile] technoshaman, and [personal profile] book_worm5. It belongs to the Shiv thread of the Polychrome Heroics series. This directly follows "The Smallest Decisions," "If You Don't Stick Up for Them," "Getting Close to a New Guy," and "The Supreme Quality for Leadership," so read those first or this won't make much sense.

Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This is the current list on self-awareness.

15. Do you consider your childhood a happy one?

Largely so.  Certainly it's a lot happier than most others I've heard from friends. :/  I have many positive memories.  There were some big issues, but my parents did the best they could with what they had.  They handled raising a nonhuman baby a lot better than most people would have.  I'm a functional adult and we're still close, so I'll call it a win.
