Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and cool with a breeze.

I fed the birds. I've seen a flock of sparrows, a pair of downy woodpeckers, a starling, and a fox squirrel.

I wanted to start planting the pawpaw seeds, but it turned out the soil is still frozen there. :/

So instead I started cutting brush around the daffodil bed.

EDIT 2/5/23 -- I put out water for birds.

I cut more brush around the daffodil bed. The narrow end facing the driveway is mostly clear now. :D

EDIT 2/5/23 -- I cut more brush around the daffodil bed, edging toward the east side now.

Today's Cooking

I'm baking Brown Sugar and Rye Shortbread Cookies.  The dough came out a bit soft -- I probably should have put it in the fridge for 5 minutes before rolling it out.  I did that instead of making balls to roll in sugar because I figured it was plenty sweet already.  It smells rather like apples baking, although there is no apple in the recipe.

EDIT 2/5/23 -- They turned out pretty good.  The flavor is nice, but the texture isn't as pleasing as the recipe I usually use.  These are tougher.
