There will be a Poetry Fishbowl here on Tuesday, February 7 with a theme of "Untranslatable Words." I hope to see you then!
I have finally finished posting poems from the Holiday Poetry Sale. I'm sorry this took so long, but there are 36+ of them!
I am currently working on the year-end materials from 2022. I finished going through the monthly notes through July, adding the relevant poems to collections.
Nominations are now closed for the 2023 Rose and Bay Awards. Voting has opened in all categories. You can use the nomination posts to find the links of eligible works if you wish to view them before deciding which to support. The voting posts have polls but not live links.
The award period for eligible activities spans January 1-December 31, 2022.
The nomination period spans January 1-January 31, 2023.
The voting period spans February 1-February 28, 2023.
These are the handlers for the 2023 award season:
There are two open epics at present.
"The Heart's Best Tenant" belongs to the Steamsmith. Charlotte has good ideas.
"Within the Souls of Men" belongs to Shiv. Shiv thinks like a cat to assess wildlife conservation techniques.
The weather has been moderate here. It got quite cold for a bit, then warmed up again. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a flock of sparrows, several mourning doves, a pair of cardinals, a pair of downy woodpeckers, a starling, and three fox squirrels. I also saw two bald eagles circling above the yard, and another one while we were traveling! :D 3q3q3q!!! Crocus, daffodils, a few other spring bulbs, and sedum are sprouting.

Birdfeeding
Feb. 6th, 2023 03:15 pmToday is cloudy and cool.
I fed the birds. I've seen a flock of sparrows and a fox squirrel.
I started raking leaves off the daffodil bed. The sprouts are big enough that if I don't remove the leaf mulch it'll squash the leaves, even though the weather is still cold.
EDIT 2/6/23 -- I raked more leaves off the daffodil bed. The front side is clear now.
EDIT 2/6/23 -- I finished raking off the daffodil bed. \o/
EDIT 2/6/23 -- I cut brush on the east edge of the daffodil bed. I saw that some of the volunteer daffodils are peeking through the gravel of the parking lot.
I've seen a pair of cardinals and a female downy woodpecker.
As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.
