Challenge #13

In your own space, tell us about 3 fandom resources you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom!) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

The Oxford Dictionary defines fandom as being 'the state or condition of being a fan of something.' Which is a fancy way of saying that fandom doesn't exist in a vacuum and is based on something else.

Even if you're not a creator, there are many things that enhance your enjoyment / knowledge of your fandom, or fandom in general.

This challenge is interested in those supplemental things. What supplemental things do you enjoy, read, use as research, connect with fellow fans on? We're looking for anything that adds to your enjoyment of your fandom(s). Wikis, web sites, videos, software, games, books, people... anything!

There are some great fandom resources out there and we'd love to see what they are.

[personal profile] dialecticdreamer is hosting Feathering the Nest today with a theme of "nonsexual intimacy." Want fluff and cuddles? Acepr0n about people rubbing their emotions together? Leave prompts, get ficlets!

If readers offer a total of $150 in tips, I’ll post the next 7,500-8,000 words of “Fairy Tale Fragments.” That effectively doubles the value for everyone reading the blog. I certainly hope to reach that goal. Oh, final note I assume that sponsors are anonymous, so please tell me when sponsoring a story if I should use a name or not.

The Rose and Bay Awards are now open for nominations.  The nomination period ends on January 31, and voting begins on February 1.  If you have not yet nominated your favorite projects and patrons for crowdfunding excellence, please do that now.  The need is especially urgent for the Fiction, Poetry, Webcomic, and Other Project categories, as they do not yet have enough for a contest.  Art and Patron could use more too, though.  Spread the word to anyone you think might be interested in participating.

New Year's Resolution Status

How are you doing on your New Year's resolutions? I have already completed 6 of my goals for 2021, and begun 16 (some of which can't be completed until the end of the year).  I have also added one new resolution: February Goal: Wok Study

Poetry in Microfunding:

There are two open epics at present.

"Wanting a Little of Everything" is now complete. Bennett does a bit of kink demo for Shiv and Luci.

"A Celebration and a Consolation" belongs to Polychrome Heroics. Keira's father dumps her mother on Yule.

"The Best Understanding of Their Differences" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Calliope and has 3 new verses. Calliope and Vagary consider the aftermath of the bubble fight.

The weather has been cloudy often and clear occasionally.  It snowed a little last night, so there is snow and ice in a thin layer.  Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a large flock of sparrows, a flock of cardinals, a flock of mourning doves, several dark-eyed juncos, a downy woodpecker, and two squirrels.

Today is cold and gray.  We got a little snow last night, so there's a thin layer of snow and ice over everything.  :/

As the birdfeeders still have seed in them, I'm disinclined to go outside just to top them up.  I have seen a large flock of sparrows and a couple of cardinals today.

This tutorial explains about plus-size bodies and shapes.  It includes many fine details that I haven't seen much in art before, such as stretch marks and a very clever "spiderweb" graphic showing how different body parts can be larger or smaller in relation to each other.

If you are an artist or writer, you can use this to design different characters.  If you are a prompter or sponsor, you can use this to show creators what kind of body diversity you want to see and buy.  No guessing!  Get what you want!  :D

Draw ALL the bodies!

My partner Doug found these today.  :D  They really are quite good.  The ruby coating is thick and distinctive, around vanilla ice cream.  Also, if you don't stuff yourself with the "three bars" serving size -- we ate one each after supper -- then the calorie and carb counts are quite reasonable.

... are expected to emerge in 2021.  This map shows the expected states.  These cicadas are small, black and orange, with red eyes and they stay underground for 17 years.  The larger green ones appear every year.
