See a fire tornado made with fans.

For those of you with pyrokinesis, it's not a hard trick to make fire spiral, although getting it to go straight up is harder.

"Squiggles: Excerpts from Nleimen's Journal"

1511.09.19

I've finished my research paper on the spread of thorn locusts. How could anyone think that encouraging those things just for the sake of preserving their wings to decorate hats could ever possibly be a good idea? The map I drew for this assignment looks like I spilled the bottle of scarlet ink all over it.

I will never cheat on a transport license. I will never cheat on a breeding license. Ever. Just thinking about it makes me sick now.

The March 4, 2014 Poetry Fishbowl went well.  I have most of the supporting work done for that, just need to finish the followup report.  Based on an audience poll, there will be a bonus fishbowl in Polychrome Heroics on Tuesday, March 18.

Poetry in Microfunding:
"Its Very Existence" is now complete.  Find out what happens to Nahum.  "The Feast of Saint Valentine" belongs to the series Frankenstein's Family.  It has a bunch of new verses, in which Victor and Igor try to work out their relationship.

Weather here has been moderate.  My spring flowers still haven't sprouted, not even the snowdrops.  It's the first time they've behaved normally in years.  I'd kind of given up on checking for them because they were sprouting in February or January.  The squirrel has been doing gymnastics on the hopper feeder.  I also saw a house finch this past week; they have a reddish-purple head and chest, very pretty.  Some years we've had a whole flock of those, other times none.

Some of these seem more accurate to me than others, but they're good illustrations of mental states

This month's theme was "dragons."  I worked from 1 PM to 2:30 AM, so about 12 hours 30 minutes accounting for breaks.  I wrote 16 poems on Tuesday and another 7 later.  They ran shorter this time, although all lengths were represented, and all free verse.

Participation was enthusiastic.  There were 49 comments on LiveJournal and another 22 on Dreamwidth.  No new prompters this month, though.

Buy some poetry!
If you plan to sponsor some poetry but haven't made up your mind yet, read the unsold poetry list from March 4. That includes the title, length, price, and the original thumbnail description for the poems still available.  There are still several verses of "Lawless, Winged, and Unconfined" remaining, which you can reveal by linking to the unsold poetry list or a favorite poem from the March fishbowl.

Currently sponsored poems have all been posted.  Backchannel copies of the rest have been sent to their respective prompters.  Per the $200 goal, "Gifts from the Spirit Wind" is the free epic.  Per the $250 goal, there will be a bonus fishbowl featuring Polychrome Heroics on Tuesday, March 18.

Donors this month include DW user Redsixwing, [livejournal.com profile] itew, [livejournal.com profile] janetmiles, [livejournal.com profile] laffingkat, Anthony & Shirley Barrette.  There were no new donors.  The donor perk is "Dragons," posted here on LJ now that the friends group function is working again.

The Poetry Fishbowl project also has a permanent landing page.

ysabetwordsmith: Damask smiling over their shoulder (polychrome)

Since we're doing a mid-month fishbowl in Polychrome Heroics on March 18, I decided that it would be helpful to post what I have in the way of character sheets.  In this series, it's a lot faster and easier for me to write with established characters, because of how complex they can get.  Many of these are characters already appearing in poems, published or unpublished.  Others are ones I wanted to stat up for reasons of diversity, but haven't featured in a poem yet.  All of them are available for prompting.

Skip to Part 3, Part 4.
