Here are a couple of community activity updates from [personal profile] soc_puppet:

[community profile] moodthemeinayear is nearing its next break period! It begins on Wednesday. Following that break, the Minimum and Medium Tracks will reset, so it's a great time to jump on for anyone who wants a schedule to follow.

[community profile] summerofthe69's amnesty period will end on Monday, with theme suggestions for 2025 set to open on Wednesday. Voting for themes will begin in May, so you have plenty of time to ponder theme suggestions.

Today is partly cloudy, breezy, mild, and wet.  It rained off and on yesterday.  It had dried off somewhat by morning, but stormed again midday.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a small mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, two grackles, a starling, a mourning dove, and a fox squirrel.

I put out water for the birds.

The first bluebell has opened.  :D

EDIT 3/30/25 -- The sun came out for a while.  I was going to go outside, but then it starting storming again.

EDIT 3/30/25 -- It stopped raining just long enough for me to do a bit of work around the patio.

I am done for the night.

Researchers' breakthrough method reveals clouds amplify global warming far more than previously understood

Better technology to prepare for climate change.
Tropical marine low clouds play a crucial role in regulating Earth's climate. However, whether they mitigate or exacerbate global warming has long remained a mystery. Now, researchers have developed a groundbreaking method that significantly improves accuracy in climate predictions. This led to a major discovery -- that tropical cloud feedback may have amplified the greenhouse effect by a staggering 71% more than previously known to scientists
.

This is another example of the common pattern where scientists drastically underestimate how screwed we are.
