Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week

Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week is February 18th - 24th, 2024

Aromanticism is a romantic orientation, which describes people whose experience of romance is disconnected from normative societal expectations, often due to experiencing little to no romantic attraction, or sometimes feeling repulsed by romance or being uninterested in romantic relationships.

Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week (ASAW) is an annual, international event meant to spread awareness and acceptance of aromantic spectrum identities and the issues we face, as well as making more people aware of our existence while celebrating it.


Feel free to ask for this in any relevant prompt call.  The allbingo Valentines Fest will run February 1-29 and includes platonic as well as romantic and sexual prompts.  The Poetry Fishbowl will be on Tuesday, February 6 with a theme of "Twisted Genres." The February crowdfunding Creative Jam will run Saturday 17-Sunday 18 with a theme of "Knowledge."

Valentines Meet and Greet

I've been participating in snowflake_challenge, where lots of folks want to see more activity on Dreamwidth. While researching community activities, I came across the idea of thematic meet and greet events. That seemed like something which might work here, given a membership of several hundred people and a new theme each month. So I made one for this month's theme. It gives people a place to meet folks with similar interests, and to squee about the current theme.

Here is the basic outline. Fill in as much or as little of it as you wish, depending on your interests as they relate to the Valentines Fest.

Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy and cool.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a flock of sparrows.

Hobbies: Jet Skiing

Folks have mentioned an interest in questions and conversations that make them think. So I've decided to offer more of those. This batch features hobbies.

Jet skiing is the hobby of riding a water scooter. It is often done alone, but sometimes two people share one. Some people like to race theirs or do stunts.

Valentines Bingo Card 2-1-24

Here is my card for the Valentines Bingo Fest over in allbingo. It has several different categories. I have made a mixed card. The fest runs from February 1-29. (See all my 2024 bingo cards.)  There is also a Valentines Meet and Greet where you can squee over relationships, romantic or platonic.

If you'd like to sponsor a particular square, especially if you have an idea for what character, series, or situation it would fit -- talk to me and we'll work something out. I've had a few requests for this and the results have been awesome so far. This is a good opportunity for those of you with favorites that don't always mesh well with the themes of my monthly projects. I may still post some of the fills for free, because I'm using this to attract new readers; but if it brings in money, that means I can do more of it. That's part of why I'm crossing some of the bingo prompts with other projects, such as the Poetry Fishbowl.
