Hard Things

Life is full of things which are hard or tedious or otherwise unpleasant that need doing anyhow. They help make the world go 'round, they improve skills, and they boost your sense of self-respect. But doing them still kinda sucks. It's all the more difficult to do those things when nobody appreciates it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our accomplishments and pat each other on the back.

What are some of the hard things you've done recently? What are some hard things you haven't gotten to yet, but need to do? Is there anything your online friends could do to make your hard things a little easier?

This morning I got up early before it got too hot, and mowed the lawn. It was way overdue, but for days and days it's been too hot to work, and/or too wet, and/or my head was too rough. It was still pretty rough today but I pushed.

We are getting ready to move out of the country. As my beloved husband put it, we're self-deporting before the regime can decide that it doesn't matter that we're native born - we're outspoken democratic attorneys, and that's enough. We're Jewish, and that's enough. This gives us control of the process. If we wait, we could easily lose that. All of my activism is online anyway, which means I can do it from anyplace with decent internet. But we're leaving our home, our community, and everyone we love, and I'm heartbroken.

Yeah, I've been calling them that for years and nobody listened. This is how bad it had to get before people started to notice. *sigh* History repeats itself because people are just slow.

I'm scheduled for cataract surgery on one eye two weeks from today, with the other eye scheduled for six days later. My stomach has become a butterfly breeding area. They were spotted early, during a regular eye exam, so they aren't yet causing any problems I'd notice outside of an exam room. Still, I need to find someone to take me to and from the surgeries, and they need to be able to stay with me the whole time... which will be hours. (Mrowr...)

My wife had cataract surgery a couple of years ago- it went swimmingly :o) Her sister had this done last year- no problems. But I understand your anxiety. My optometrist tells me I’ll need it done in about three years. Hang in there!

im doing it 50/50 soft/hard

im playing diablo 2

but also modding it

trying to make it more fun to play

not that difficult to make small changes

that have big impact

wanted to make all classes when they start the game

get a +1 skills

so they can start with any skill they want

no level requirements
