There are two open epics at present.

"The Heart's Best Tenant" belongs to the Steamsmith. Charlotte has good ideas.

"Within the Souls of Men" belongs to Shiv. Shiv thinks like a cat to assess wildlife conservation techniques.

The weather has been moderate here. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a flock of sparrows, a flock of mourning doves, several starlings, a male cardinal, a male and a female downy woodpeckers, a robin, and a fox squirrel. Snowdrops, crocus, winter aconite, and miniature irises are blooming. Daffodils are just starting to open. A few other spring bulbs, sedum, naked ladies, daylilies, and tulips are sprouting. Some honeysuckles are starting to leaf out.

Today is partly cloudy and warm.

I fed the birds. I've seen a flock of sparrows and a fox squirrel.

I walked around the yard taking pictures. I heard what's probably a collared dove but I haven't seen any yet. I saw a couple of bumblebees pollinating flowers. That's unusual -- they tend to appear only after the last frost, and it's implausibly early for that.

EDIT 3/6/34 -- I raked some leaves off the wildflower garden.

EDIT 3/6/34 -- I raked more leaves off the wildflower garden.

EDIT 3/6/34 -- I raked more leaves off the wildflower garden. It's mostly done but not quite.

Wild violets are starting to leaf out. In spring they carpet much of the yard in various colors.
