School Days Bingo Card 4-1-19

Here is my card for the School Days Bingo Fest over in allbingo. It has three different categories: School Words, Childhood Experiences, and Robert Plutchik's 1980 List of Emotions.  The fest celebrates all kinds of schools and other educational experiences.  All fandoms and original works are welcome, in any format or length.  I have chosen to make a mixed card this time.  The fest runs from April 1-30. (See all my 2019 bingo cards.)

If you'd like to sponsor a particular square, especially if you have an idea for what character, series, or situation it would fit -- talk to me and we'll work something out. I've had a few requests for this and the results have been awesome so far. This is a good opportunity for those of you with favorites that don't always mesh well with the themes of my monthly projects. I may still post some of the fills for free, because I'm using this to attract new readers; but if it brings in money, that means I can do more of it. That's part of why I'm crossing some of the bingo prompts with other projects, such as the Poetry Fishbowl.

Today is my birthday, and I hate people picking on me on my birthday.  So this blog is a prank-free zone, in case anyone else dislikes the pattern of harassment and data corruption that plagues the world today.

fuzzyred has been updating the Shiv thread page. As of the latest round, it's almost done; we just have one last batch to finish. \o/

There will be a Poetry Fishbowl on Tuesday, April 2 with a theme of "alternative methods of teaching."  If you're stuck for prompts, I have a card for the School Days Bingo Fest, or you could check out the School Words list of prompts.

There is one open epic.

"Chewing Anyway" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Shiv. It opened and closed on the same day. Shiv finds some new coping tools.

"A Cave Swarming with Strange Forms of Life" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Iron Horses. Kenzie goes to Pretty Ears for counseling.


Weather here has been variable. It rained again, enough to make big puddles in the. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a large flock of grackles, a small flock of sparrows, a small flock of mourning doves, a small flock of dark-eyed juncos, a small flock of house finches, a small flock of goldfinches, two pairs of cardinals, a pair of rufous-sided towhees, a downy woodpecker, a robin, a redtail hawk, some kind of wren on the suet feeder, a rabbit, and a squirrel. Amusingly the birds are ignoring the frequent spurts of water from the sump pump; I thought it would scare them away, but they just walk through the spray.  :D

Rainbow Fudge

Happy birthday to meeeee! :D 3q3q3q!!!

A fan sent me two different rainbow fudge samples, reminded of them by my description of Shiv's rainbow-chocolate eggs.

At least the first one was spectacular.  We had it for lunch dessert today.  So I cut it in half ... licked the knife ... mmm ... licked the wrapper.  :D   The apricot is a dominant note for me, and that's the best apricot extract I've ever tasted: it tastes exactly like the apricots we used to pick off our tree when I was little.  My partner noted that it's meltier than most fudge.  I pointed out that -- aside from the fandangous add-ins -- this is a very traditional fudge recipe without modern binders like marshmallow fluff.  And it still set.  So epic.

Look at these beauties!  That's natural color on the left, mostly from flowers.  The right has food color and powdered fruit.

Fairy Food Rainbow Fudge from the back, so you can see most of the label.
Ingredients: candied flowers, heavy cream, white chocolate, strawberry and apricot extracts, fennel pollen, lemon balm, citric, elderflower & cornflower, salt.


A side view shows how the label wraps around.


The Rainbow Fudge has a different set of ingredients.
Cream, butter, sugar, cherry and blueberry powders, orange and pandan extracts, ginger, cardamom, food color, salt, edible glitter (gum Arabic).  I can hardly wait to try this!


I wish I could find fudge recipes like this, because daaaamn.  A little slice of Terramagne, as literally as you could ever get in this dimension.  Dr. Infanta would inhale this stuff by the pound.

Shiv Thread Page Updates

fuzzyred has posted the last of the main entries to the Shiv thread page. We're still waiting on input about a few other pieces, but it's basically up to date now. \o/ Big thanks!

For updating this page, fuzzyred has chosen "How Much Love We Put in That Action" as a volunteer perk.  It's too late in the day to post something that big tonight, and tomorrow is the fishbowl, but this is on my task list for later.
