Today is my birthday, and I hate people picking on me on my birthday. So this blog is a prank-free zone, in case anyone else dislikes the pattern of harassment and data corruption that plagues the world today.

He's one of my recent finds on YouTube. I found his channel through this a cappella science collaboration: Whole New Worlds: an Aladdin History of Exoplanets, and I decided to subscribe after listening to/watching his original arrangement for "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." (that closing smile to the camera won my heart, to be honest).

I know, right?! That channel is another of my favorites. It lets me enjoy current pop tunes for their melodies, but with all the hetero-amato-normative lyrics swapped out for nerdy, geeky infodumps. ;-)

Not into April Fool's, although I already suffered an unwanted April Fool's "Surprise" this morning (ugh).

The closest thing I have done today to an April Fool's prank, or intend to do, is that I wore my propeller hat everywhere I went. It is divided radially (pie-style) into about six colors and is topped with a wire arising from the back of a tiny pig, strung with colored beads and culminating in a propeller that spins in the wind. I went around saying "Happy April Fool's Day!" to people I met, and they smiled. :-)

I have no objection to harmless silliness that does not target a victim.

Heck, I have no problem with pranks as long as they stick to consenting participants. It's the tendency to inflict pranks on the nonconsenting that bothers me.

Yes! I like very much the idea of a designated day for fun silliness but it's not fun unless it's fun for everyone involved and consent is key for that.
