Autistic Communication

Here's a thoughtful post about autistic communication.  Notice the observation that the neurovariant person is ALWAYS WRONG.  They have no right to comfort or sanity; they are always expected to hurt themselves to make other people happy.  Which is a horrible thing to do to anyone.

One reason I don't have a lot of friends is that I demand equality in relationships.  I will respect your quirks to the extent you respect mine.  If I can't accommodate something I will say so.  But I am nobody's doormat, and I think that people who treat folks as doormats are themselves assholes.  I don't want to socialize with assholes.

Definitions:

"Diary entry" -- any posts the topic of which is you or something you made. Photos from your trips or of your artwork goes here.

"Pointer" -- any post which is a "look at this cool/interesting/upsetting thing I found out on the internet": links, video embeds, reposts of interesting content.

"Bleg" -- a question put to your readership, such as "what computer should I buy?" or "where should I go when I visit Ulan Blaator?" or "what did you think of the ending of the Sopranos?"

"Op ed" -- "Opinion Editorial": original content by you, but not about you, expressing an opinion you have on something. Reviews and fanfic "meta" fit here, as do more standard opinion pieces.

Geoengineering Glaciers

This article lays out a plan for geoengineering glaciers to slow the rate of melting.  It sounds more feasible and less dangerous than most geoengineering proposals I have seen.

The Casualties of WWII

While discussing the history of T-Britannia, I had cause to reference one of my favorite WWII documentaries, this brilliant animation of the casualties. When I name Russia and General Winter as the reason for Germany's ultimate defeat, this illustration shows why in a way that makes it much easier to grasp than just hearing the numbers.  I maintain that America's main contribution was stepping in with fresh resources at a time when most of Europe was worn down by years of war.
