Goals for 2023

Each year, I think about what I have accomplished and what I want to do next. (See my goals for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022.) These are some of my goals for 2023:


* Actually look at this list of goals, at least twice a month, before the end of the year in hopes of meeting more of them and not trying to cram in December. * Hang 2023 calendars. [MET 1/4/23]

* Fill in desk calendar with repeating posts and other memoranda by the end of January. [MET 1/27/23, begun 1/1/23]

* Move poetry printouts. [MET 1/27/23]

* Put sugar savers into sugar packages. [MET 1/8/23]

* Clear out some backlogged email. [MET 1/4/23]

* Place one new book-length project on the market, either by writing a book proposal or by writing a complete book manuscript.

* Experiment with self-publishing a chapbook in ebook and/or home-printed format.
draggon-flye.livejournal.com, siliconshaman, and ari_the_dodecahedron have volunteered to help with this.

* Finish compiling the manuscript for The Origami Mage collection. Add supporting materials as necessary. Submit completed manuscript to Hunt Press.

* Write at least 400 poems. [MET Begun 1/3/23, completed 12/31/23]

* Continue holding one Poetry Fishbowl per month. * Create more supporting materials for poetic series as necessary, such as character cast lists or scientific notes. * Supervise updates of the Polychrome Heroics material and other series [MET Begun 1/20/23, ended 12/31/23].

* Sell at least one poem of 10 or fewer lines, eligible for the Dwarf Stars Award.

* Sell at least one poem of 50+ lines, eligible for the Rhysling Award long category. [MET 2/24/23 "Tretår"]

* Sort through bingo cards and remove those from 2021. [MET 1/4/23]

* Participate in at least six bingo fests. * Launch birdfeeding community. [MET 1/1/23]

* Run the Rose & Bay Awards for 2022. [MET Begun 1/1/23, completed 2/28/23, see winners post]

* Keep up with writing records better, updating at least monthly. [MET 12/31/23]

* Finish spending holiday money by the end of January. [MET Family fund done 1/3/23, my personal fund done 1/10/23.]

* Finish at least two catalog orders for spring plants by the end of February. Orders sent in March or later do not count. * Put more bee plants in the prairie garden. Get more Monarch Butterfly Wildflower Seed Mix (also bee-friendly) from American Meadows and Bee Lawn Mix from OPN Seeds. Not new, but newly written down, is the excellent Green Smoothie [5/11/23].

* Try at least one new cooking ingredient. [MET 3/5/23 moringa]

* Organize at least one area that is currently a mess. [MET 5/24/23 cleaned laundry room and back bedroom for plumbers]
- Shrink book stack in front of printer?
- Take books off couch?

* Clean the window prisms. [MET 1/23/23]

* Rehang misplaced window prisms. [MET 1/28/23]

* Hang new planters. [MET Begun 1/21/23 with half-moon planter (as candleholder in dining room) and brass planter in fairy window, but neither filled yet; 1/22/23 hung macramé planter in fairy window, 1/28/23 filled pots and put the baby spider plants in them ]

* Work on cleaning up the fairy window: [MET]

-- Move empty pots to lower storage shelf. [MET 2/2/23]
-- Repot plants that need it.
-- Continue tinkering with arrangements of hangers and prisms until things get the light they need.

* Bullet journal family activities, aiming for at least one a week. [Begun 1/1/23]
These are intended as additions. Daily or near-daily activities do not count:
--Eating meals together (about 1-1/2 hours total)
--Making smoothies (5-10 minutes)
--Bedtime snuggles (about 1/2 hour)

* When posting for Moment of Silence, include "carry on the work" suggestions based on each person's activities. [MET Begun 1/19/23, completed 12/31/23]

* Do more archiving of web links to combat linkrot. I primarily use the Wayback Machine and Archive.fo, but there are other options. [MET Begun 1/1/23, completed 12/31/23]

* Fill in the blank: __________. This slot is left open because, during any given year, I usually pick up some "surprise" goals. This time I want to give myself credit for that. [MET ]

(I didn't even think of this one until I looked back at Unique Resolutions and realized I'd done it.)

Thank you! I tried to put some thought into what worked last year and what didn't, and what I'd like to accomplish this year. I think I did pretty well with crafting the list, so I'm hoping for some good success with it.
