These are the setting notes for "The Basic Source of Peace."

The Peace Store is a cheerful yellow building.

Inside is crammed with shelves and racks holding all kinds of bohemian stuff. Hippie art hangs on the walls. Shelves hold a variety of bohemian decorations. Jewelry includes peace signs, flowers, and other hippie motifs. A sign advertises the use of a safety pin with a peace symbol pendant as an indicator of safe people. Lava lamps and dream catchers create a soothing atmosphere.

Many of the clothes have peace signs or other hippie motifs.

The yoga section includes inspirational artwork, clothes, jewelry, mats, cushions, books, and other equipment.

They also have a generous selection of books on peacework and other activism. The store sells toolkits for different types of activism. This one focuses on environmental issues. This kit contains art supplies for making protest posters or banners, which can be used with the various posterboard and banner materials available. This kit makes 1-inch, 2.25-inch, and 3-inch buttons used for protests and for promoting worthy causes.

A bookcase of swap shelves is available for customers to exchange titles. Fiction and miscellaneous books go on the top shelves, then bohemian and activist stuff on the middle two, and children's books on the bottom two.

The meditation section has several bookcases of titles about meditation, mindfulness, inner peace, enlightenment, and spirituality. It also offers devotional statues, singing bowls, drums, floor cushions, and other equipment. Spiritual decorations come primarily from Hindu and Buddhist traditions with some other stuff thrown in too.

They have a wide variety of Dalai Lama quotes done up as wall hangings which include "Compassion," "Loving Kindness," "Meditation on Dying," "Never Give Up," "A Precious Human Life," "The True Meaning of Life," "True Meaning of Peace," and "Universal Responsibility."

The store carries essential oil, incense in various shapes, burners, candles, and other aromatherapy supplies.

The Head Room has an assortment of smoking equipment and stoner decorations, but does not actually sell psychedelics or other smokeables.

The Art Spot offers a variety of craft supplies including simple tie-dye kits and professional tie-dye materials.

The Craft Room provides space for workshops on peace-themed arts and crafts.

The Tea Room includes commercial blends, local blends, and herbs to make custom blends along with tea pots, strainers, and other tools.

The Crane Room has small tables and chairs where people can sit and talk.

The Circle Room includes mismatches couches, chairs, and a piano for group meetings and other activities.
