These are the notes for "The Deepest Mutuality and the Most Painful Estrangement."
Freesia Hansen -- She has fair skin, blue eyes, and long wavy blonde hair. She is tall and graceful. Her heritage is American. She speaks English and some French. She grew up in Sedona, Arizona. Her sexuality is pretty much free love. She is 34 years old in 2016.
As a teen, Freesia fell in love with a wild bohemian boy named Javan Sommer, who told her he was an angel. When she got pregnant, though, Javan didn't stick around. She had a son, Cassiel, when she was 16. Since then she made her way north, winding up in Nebraska. Cas often stayed with neighbors or family friends, occasionally in foster care, but his mother always retrieved him eventually. They have a tenuous and rather fraught relationship. She is also the grandmother of Hali (2).
Freesia is good at finding work but bad at keeping it. She doesn't have the level of responsibility for motherhood, either. She's just a flake. She gets stoned, runs out of money, and gets into trouble. It's not an addiction, just a bad habit of abandoning reality when it gets bothersome.
Currently Freesia works at the New Age store Crystal Wisdom in Lincoln. She loves all things mystical and mysterious. Her apartment is cluttered with funky knickknacks. Some of them are things she made; she is a haphazard upcycler and junk artist. The windows are filled with plants, but some of them are usually dying because she forgets to water them and then drowns them. Freesia has lots of bohemian friends, and they take care of each other as best they can. She often lets people crash at her place, when she has one. Freesia likes bohemian clothes in antique colors.

"Probably there is nothing in human nature more resonant with charges than the flow of energy between two biologically alike bodies, one of which has lain in amniotic bliss inside the other, one of which has labored to give birth to the other. The materials are here for the deepest mutuality and the most painful estrangement."
-- Adrienne Rich
“Our estrangement is not drama-laden -- we have not betrayed one another's trust, we have not stolen lovers or fought over money or property or any of the things that irreparably break families apart. The answer, for us, is much simpler. See, we love one another. We just don't happen to like one another very much.”
— Eleanor Brown
Estrangement can happen when parents and children don't get along. There are ways to mend a relationship, if both people are willing and able to work on it.
Inept parenting comes in many forms. Children need consistency. Emotionally inept parenting can lead to anxiety or adultification in children. Consider this bill of rights for adult children of emotionally immature parents.
Verbal abuse is hostile language which can take many forms. Know the signs and symptoms of it. This article gives a scale from mild to emotional torture. Here is a page with many resources on this topic. T-America takes a similar view on language as on bodies: your right to swing your fist ends at my nose. There are constructive ways to respond to verbal abuse and recover from it. Various types of therapy can help. Be prepared to help survivors of emotional abuse. It is possible to switch from violent to nonviolent communication.
