Origfic Bingo Card 4-3-17

Since k_a_webb recently stepped up as a new moderator, origfic_bingo is back in action. This community makes cards with a Gen, Romantic, and/or Kink theme intended for original works.

If you'd like to sponsor a particular square, especially if you have an idea for what character, series, or situation it would fit -- talk to me and we'll work something out.  I've had a few requests for this and the results have been awesome so far.  This is a good opportunity for those of you with favorites that don't always mesh well with the themes of my monthly projects. I may still post some of the fills for free, because I'm using this to attract new readers; but if it brings in money, that means I can do more of it. That's part of why I'm crossing some of the bingo prompts with other projects, such as the Poetry Fishbowl.

Helping an Online Friend in Difficult Times

Someone asked me how to help an online friend through a difficult time. All the advice, of course, is aimed at helping friends in meatspace. Considering how many of us have online intimates, this is not helpful. Here is my effort to fill that gap.

Poetry in Microfunding:
"A Hope and a Promise" belongs to Polychrome Heroics and has 4 new verses.  Mrs. Ozenne observes Saraphina.  "Essential for Human Survival" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Cassandra and has 4 new verses.  Groundhog and Cassandra talk about whether to set aside dangerous things for a while. 


Weather has been moderate, and looks drizzly today.  Recently at the birdfeeder I have seen a flock of doves, lots of grackles, some sparrows, a pair of cardinals, a brown thrasher, and a house finch.  The mourning dove nest by the kitchen window has two white eggs.  Currently blooming: forsythia, miniature Dutch iris, crocus, daffodils, tulips, scilla, hyacinths, blue grape hyacinth, blue-and-white violets, purple violets, pear, anemone.  Redbud has buds but they're not open yet.

Duelling Pipers

My partner Doug found this video of duelling bagpipers.  :D  Be patient, it's amusing from the beginning but takes a while to get to the really relevant part.

Monday Yardening

It was drizzling off and on earlier today, but cleared up for a while.  So I went outside and planted the Tricyrtis hirta and Tricyrtis 'Tojen' from yesterday.  They went into the purple-and-white garden where I put the Blue Wonder earlier.  :D

More blue grape hyacinths are blooming around the yard.  Echinacea and yellow coneflower are leafing out in the wildflower garden.  Newly blooming are paperwhite narcissus in the white garden.

Birds have been fluttering around the feeders today, mostly sparrows.  There are still two white eggs in the mourning dove nest.

Iron Rations in Progress

kyleri is working on a recipe for iron rations, and would like input on alternatives to ingredients, so it can be made free of allergens. 

Certified Wildlife Habitat

Today we registered our yard as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. The National Wildlife Federation has a page on gardening for wildlife which lays out the components. I have boldfaced the ones I have.
