This poem is the freebie for the August Muse Fusion over on torn_world. You can read more about the Duurludirj and their floating villages on the Torn World site.
The storm flag snaps in the rising wind,
cable clattering against flagpole.
Every village has one, and everyone
knows to keep watch for it in autumn.
Busy hands work on the houses,
tearing down the walls and roofs.
Everything inside has already been packed,
ready to stow away before the launch.
Busy hands work on the hulls,
locking walls and roofs into their new sockets,
building the flotilla as they do each year,
getting ready to ride the tide.
By the time the storms come,
the whole village will be safely asea,
the great ramships guarding the flotilla
against the monsters that lurk below.
