ysabetwordsmith: Damask smiling over their shoulder (polychrome)
This poem came out of the July 2, 2024 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from [personal profile] dialecticdreamer and [personal profile] rix_scaedu. It also fills the "Questions / Answers" square in my 7-1-24 card for the Games and Entertainment Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by [personal profile] callibr8. It belongs to the College Arc in the Shiv thread of the Polychrome Heroics series.

Today is partly sunny and chilly.  The sun is playing hide and seek with the clouds, sometimes bright and other times dim.  It may have rained a bit more last night, as there's a puddle in the road.

I haven't fed the birds yet.  I've seen a large flock of sparrows, a mourning dove, a downy woodpecker, and a fox squirrel.

I went out to take pictures of the hollies and wound up taking more around the yard.  :D

EDIT 12/19/24 -- I fed the birds.

I put out water for the birds.

EDIT 12/19/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

I've seen a male house finch.

EDIT 12/19/24 -- I trimmed a bit more brush around the Midwinter Grove, then hauled it to the ritual meadow to throw on the brushpile there.

As it is getting dark, I am done for the night.

I spotted this trailer for Superman.  I looked at the sample picture and thought, Wow, that guy looks like a refugee rather than a superhero.

... oh wait, that superhero is  actually a refugee.

[personal profile] fuzzyred has posted a list of target poems; donors can also add their own to the pool.  If you want to join the pool, now's the time, because it closes around midnight tonight.  The Holiday Poetry Sale as a whole lasts through the end of Friday.

[personal profile] stepnix points out that it's hard to find summaries of tabletop roleplaying games, especially compared to other things like books or movies.  RPGGeek is well worth a look.  While it doesn't have detailed summaries, it does have a lot of searchable features and it supports things like reviews and playthrough videos.

I took some pictures of the yard and the new holly bushes before planting.
