Poetry Fishbowl Open!
Oct. 15th, 2024 01:42 pmThe Poetry Fishbowl is now CLOSED. Thank your for your time and attention.
Starting now, the Poetry Fishbowl is open! This is the perk for the Poetry Fishbowl meeting the $250 goal four times. Today's theme is "Quixotic Ideas." I will be checking this page periodically throughout the day. When people make suggestions, I'll pick some and weave them together into a poem ... and then another ... and so on. I'm hoping to get a lot of ideas and a lot of poems.
This series is sociological fantasy about a world in which magic is known and society is integrated. These features don't solve everything, but they do make life more interesting. In this setting, most people manage to solve problems creatively rather than violently. They argue over the best ways to fit everything together, but rarely get into serious fights over it. Most people manage to deal with magic and magical creatures, but sometimes things get ... complicated.
There are also some notes for this setting. See "Laws and Rules of Magic" and "Vocabulary." They explain a bit about how magic works in this setting. You can use these as inspiration for your prompts. If you want to keep your poem price toward the lower end, using things I've already researched will save me time so I'm less likely to need extra research fees.

Birdfeeding
Oct. 15th, 2024 04:21 pmToday is partly cloudy, breezy, and cold. It's dropped from unseasonably warm 70°s to seasonably cold 50°F all at once. >_<
I fed the birds. I've seen a large mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, a white-crowned sparrow, a tufted titmouse, a lady cardinal, and a downy woodpecker industriously drilling at the corncob.
I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants.
EDIT 10/15/24 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.
As it is now dark, I am done for the night.

Poem: "The Key to Unlocking the World"
Oct. 15th, 2024 09:57 pmThis is today's freebie, inspired by a prompt from
fuzzyred. It also fills the "Metal" square in my 10-1-24 card for the Fall Fest Bingo. It belongs to the series Quixotic Ideas and happens more or less in the middle of "A Mirror for Witches."
