Birdfeeding
Oct. 11th, 2024 03:31 pmToday is sunny and warm.
I haven't fed the birds yet. I've seen several house finches and a tufted titmouse thoroughly preening itself in the forest garden. :D
I trimmed brush around the big maple tree between the house yard and the savanna, so that I can plant irises there later.
EDIT 10/11/24 -- I fed the birds.
I put out water for the birds and watered a few plants.
EDIT 10/11/24 -- I planted 2 'War Chief' burgundy irises and 2 'Harvest of Memories' yellow irises under the maple tree.
Harvesting is happening southwest of us today, probably the cornfield down there.
EDIT 10/11/24 -- I watered the maple garden, patio plants, picnic table, and septic garden.
EDIT 10/11/24 -- I watered the savanna seedlings, prairie notch, white garden, telephone pole garden, and grass patch.
The farmer harvesting corn to the southwest is raising a huge cloud of dust. We're getting some, but less than from the fields right next to us. To the north west, a farm wagon is filling a silo.
EDIT 10/11/24 -- I watered more things in the house yard.
I did a bit of work around the patio.
As it is almost suppertime, I am done for the night.

Today's Smoothie
Oct. 11th, 2024 09:42 pmToday we made a smoothie with:
1 cup apple cider
1 cup Brown Cow vanilla yogurt
1 frozen banana
1 fresh pear (cut into chunks)
sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup ice
The result is beige and slightly thick, with a strong apple cider flavor and mellowed by the pear. :D Every way we've tried it, a fresh ripe pear is by far the best thing to put in a smoothie with apple cider.
