Philosophical Questions: Something and Nothing

People have expressed interest in deep topics, so this list focuses on philosophical questions.

There has always been something. Before there was something, there was only nothing. Which do you think is more likely?


There has always been something ... but that's a very loose term. It's really entertaining to look at scientific musings about the earliest moments of this universe. There isn't always time, or matter as we know it, but there's something.

Plus of course, the whole rest of the multiverse out there, independent of any one universe's birth, life, or death. Foam is foam, regardless of an individual bubble.

Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy, chilly, and wet.  Last night it snowed a little, just enough to make everything look like a bad cake frosting job.  Then it rained.  By this morning, all the snow was gone and everything was just wet, with occasional attempts at drizzle.

I fed the birds.  Unsurprisingly nothing was active in that weather, but the seed level of the hopper feeder was lowered, so someone was desperate enough to hit it earlier.
