Life on Io?

There could be life on hot, volcanic Io, Jupiter’s “pizza moon”
On Earth, microbial growth is common in lava tubes no matter the location and climate, whether it’s ice-volcano interactions in Iceland or hot, sand-floored lava tubes in Saudi Arabia.

Okay, I guess that's plausible. Neato.

I've seen life thriving in geysers and hot springs. That could be a thing if there is water still trapped somewhere.

No, temperatures would have to be suitable sometimes. Earth is full of ephemera that activate under the right circumstances and go dormant elsewise. The violent conditions on Io make me think of things like brine shrimp, triops, and desert wildflowers. They don't need long to do their thing, and violent storms just spread them around.

Birdfeeding

Today is clear and quite cold. Earlier when I checked, it was 17°F.

I fed the birds and put out water. I have seen a flock of sparrows, a starling, and three fox squirrels. One of the two was on the hopper feeder and the others were on the ground below.

A New Form of Ice

Scientists create a new form of ice with ball milling. 

This is very interesting, but be careful with forms of ice that are not lighter than water.
