20. Where do you find meaning in your life?
* There are meanings shared by all life: to be, to experience, to discover, to grow.
* There is meaning in coming close enough to touch each other and everything around us, here on a planet where all is dense and near and thriving with life. We are all star stuff, which was made in the deeps of space where everything is scattered far and wide. For this is the heaven of stars, and we are star angels.
* Certain things that humans have been doing from the beginning hold special meaning because they relate to basic needs: growing and harvesting food, creating families and communities, making tools and art, building homes, timebinding. If you do few of the things that your ancestors did, you are more likely to feel unfulfilled; this makes modern life depressing. If you do things that have worked all along, you will probably find meaning in them. I love being able to walk around my yard and put things in my mouth -- berries, flower petals, herb leaves. It may look a mess to modern eyes, but it makes me feel happy and accomplished that I contribute to an environment which is pretty, pleasing, and practical.
* Everyone comes into life with a list of things to do, and this is unique for each person; no two have exactly the same list. If you do not figure out what is on your list, and work on that, then you will feel empty, unfulfilled, and unhappy. Whatever else you're doing will seem pointless, even if it has some use. Some people already know what's on their list, others don't. Things on my life list include writing, spreading information, and taking care of the Earth.
* Philosophers love to argue about the meaning of life. There are many possible answers, and it is totally fine to explore them and decide which ones you like. You can even make up your own. Find meaning in whatever you choose.
