The following poems from the November 6, 2012 Poetry Fishbowl are currently available.  Poems may be sponsored via PayPal -- there's a permanent donation button on my LiveJournal profile page -- or you can write to me and discuss other methods.

The Poetry Fishbowl also has a landing page with full details about the project.

"Behind a Great Woman" -- 141 lines, $141 (The Steamsmith)
I combined several of your prompts about Maryam and great women.  The result is "Behind a Great Woman," in which Maryam attends a garden party at Chiswick and gets a discreet jump up the social ladder.

"Gifts of Simplicity" -- Available after "The Demon in the Bottle" is sponsored.  SOLD  (One God's Story of Mid-Life Crisis)
The prompt about a grandmotherly woman helping Shaeth led to the free-verse poem "Gifts of Simplicity."  It deals with the importance of establishing a comfortable home and some basic skills, when trying to build a decent life.

"The Saga of Eriksdottir" -- 60 lines, $60 (The Asgard Eddas)
From your prompt about Freydis Eriksdottir I got the poem "The Saga of Eriksdottir," belonging to The Asgard Eddas.  When the men of her settlement falter under an alien attack, she takes up arms to defend it herself.  This poem is written in unrhymed quatrains with the central caesura that essentially doubles each verse, so I'm pricing it at $1/line.

"The Voyage to Vaucouleurs" -- 84 lines, $84 (The Arc of Joan)
The prompt about Joan of Arc led to the free-verse poem "The Voyage to Vaucouleurs."  It's the second in the series The Arc of Joan, set in nether-England like The Steamsmith but earlier in time.  It even lays some background for Maryam's experiences.  Anyhow, this poem tells how Jeanne d'Arc leaves home and deals with the hassle of people who just want to get in her way, before she can make progress.

We're past the $200 goal for a free epic poem from the November 6, 2012 Poetry Fishbowl.  I'm going to to ahead and post the poll for this now, because it will facilitate some other stuff later regarding the general fund.  Everyone is eligible to vote in this poll.  I will keep it open at least until Friday evening.  If there's a clear winner then, I'll close it; otherwise I may keep it open a while longer.

Two of the November epics, "Gifts of Simplicity" and "The Voyage to Vaucouleurs," depend on other poems being published first before they'll become available.  So for the free epic, you get to choose one of those earlier poems.  Your options are:

"The Demon in the Bottle" -- 98 lines, $49 (One God's Story of Mid-Life Crisis)
Shaeth encounters further difficulties in dealing with Trobby's drinking problem.
Posting this will make "Gifts of Simplicity" available for sponsorship.

"Listening to God" -- 94 lines, $94 (The Arc of Joan)
Jeanne d'Arc has a vision of three saints who advise her to learn the arts of war.  This series takes place in nether-Earth at an earlier time than The Steamsmith, and lays some subtle background for some of Maryam's experiences.
Posting this will make "The Voyage to Vaucouleurs" available for sponsorship.

[livejournal.com profile] marina_bonomi has written a thoughtful poem, "The Hand on the Loom," in counterpoint to my poem, "Rarely Well Behaved."  I recommend reading both and contemplating them together.
ysabetwordsmith: (Schrodinger's Heroes)
[personal profile] primeideal has written another crossover poem, "The Shirt Off Her Back."  This one combines Schrodinger's Heroes  and Revolution.  Very powerful ending.
ysabetwordsmith: (Schrodinger's Heroes)
This story fills a square on my second card for the [community profile] cottoncandy_bingo fest. This fest encourages people to create and share material focused on what is variously called fluff, schmoop, gentle fiction, light reading, comfort reading, positive thinking, chicken soup for the soul, or anything else that offers a fun alternative to usual run of sex, violence, and angst of modern media. I'm hoping to attract some new readers for my writing.

The following story belongs to Schrodinger's Heroes, featuring an apocryphal television show supported by an imaginary fandom. It's science fiction about quantum physics and saving the world from alternate dimensions. It features a very mixed cast in terms of ethnicity and sexual orientation. This project developed with input from multiple people, and it's open for everyone to play in. You can read more about the background, the characters, and a bunch of assorted content on the menu page.

This is a crossover with BBC Sherlock.  Skip to Part 3, Part 4, Part 5.   You can read how these characters found each other in "THE Woman."

Today we went to see the movie Wreck It Ralph.  It's an animated movie about a bad guy who gets tired of being bad, and wants to become a hero.  (You can see why that sold me just from the premise in the trailer.)  It's also the most diverse compilation of animation styles that I've seen since Who Framed Roger Rabbit?  There are so many eastereggs referring to the history of video games, it's basically a souffle.  It's funny, and dramatic, and generally spectacular.  Most highly recommended.
