I've had poetry acceptances from two new (nonpaying) markets.  Pagan Friends Webzine is taking "All of a Lammas Evening" and "Castoffs" for their Lammas issue.  Seven by Twenty, a tweetzine, is taking three of my scifaiku poems to be published in  August, September, and October.  Those will be eligible for the Dwarf Stars Award.

The website updates for Greenhaven: A Pagan Tradition continue apace.  "Activities" now has a "Classes" section with "PVC Drum-Making Workshop," "Stone Magic," and "Year-and-a-Day Class;" plus a "Cooking Feasts" section with tips on planning a potluck feast, plus subpages with recipes for all 8 sabbats; and   The "Home" tab has several subpages: "About Us," "The Heart and Soul of Greenhaven," and "Words To Live By."  Also new is the "Resources" tab, currently with one subpage on "Recommended Reading Lists."  The "Poetry" section is complete, with material through 2011.  I figured out how to change colors in text since I started this project, so "Brigid's Braid" is now in color, making the 'braid' aspect easier to see.  Various sections of the website have also been revised and polished.  Feedback is still welcome.  Remaining tasks include creating a link list, adding more articles, and finishing the proofreading.

There are four epic poems in microfunding: "Fiorenza and the Witch-Son" features Fiorenza the Italian herbalist musing about social roles and gender dynamics, at a time when there is NOT a major preternatural crisis going on. "Enki's Messengers" is essentially a sidebar to the Sumerian myth "The Descent of Inanna," focusing on the kurgarra and the galaturcreated by Enki. "Igor's Creature" is a mix of horror and science fiction with a large helping of sociology and a wry twist of humor.  The epic poem "A Periodic Table of Elementals" is ahead of production.

The next Poetry Fishbowl will be on Tuesday, July 5 with a theme of "low fantasy."

For Llewellyn, I've finished the set of 13 stone articles for the 2013 Witches' Datebook.  I'm booked for a set of tips for the datebook also, plus the article "Waxing Moon Yardwork" in the 2013 Moon Sign Book.

The black raspberries are just past peak but there are some left. The shasta daisy and yucca are blooming in the white garden, though the yucca is almost done. Echinacea is blooming in the wildflower garden; gray-headed coneflower has its heads up, but no petals on them yet. That seeded itself like mad all downwind of the wildflower garden, so I've been digging up the volunteers and moving them to the prairie garden. We've had several days of intermittent raiin and shine, with temperate conditions, which is ideal for this type of yardwork.

Speedup to Crash

This discussion looks at ways in which companies pressure workers to do more, often at the cost of safety and sanity, without paying them more or providing other compensation. Also note the tendency to reduce skilled jobs to hackwork, so pay can be cut, thus reducing the number of good jobs that actually pay enough money to live on. THIS is what's destroying the American economy, not those pesky workers who demand a paycheck that might, gosh, actually pay their bills.

Sound familiar? It's like when publishers grab more rights without paying for those.

Dealing with White Power

This stenciled picture is crude, but I am amused by the sentiment. There are more mature and effective strategies to pursue ... but the 13-year-old boy inside me is giggling like mad.
