Goals for 2026
Jan. 1st, 2026 12:07 amEach year, I think about what I have accomplished and what I want to do next. (See my goals for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025.) These are some of my goals for 2026...
* Actually look at this list of goals, at least twice a month, before the end of the year in hopes of meeting more of them and not trying to cram in December. [Begun 1/1/26, ]
January goals met:
* Change the community calendar link in
allbingo to the new 2026 Community Calendar.

* Participate in at least six bingo fests.
JANUARY GOALS
* Hang 2026 calendars.
* Change the community calendar link in
allbingo to the new 2026 Community Calendar. [MET 1/1/26]
* Clean the window prisms.
* Fill in desk calendar with repeating posts and other memoranda by the end of January.
ONE-DAY GOALS
* Move poetry printouts.
* Clear out some backlogged email.
* Save links for open tabs.
* Frame and hang original watercolor portrait of us.
* Hang Old West photograph of us.
* Hang the two original nature art paintings.
* Hang the small original birdbath watercolor.
* Hang the two library prints.
* Hang the rainbow collage.
* Put the coven tabards in the storage tub.
WRITING GOALS
* Place one new book-length project on the market, either by writing a book proposal or by writing a complete book manuscript.
* Experiment with self-publishing a chapbook in ebook and/or home-printed format.

* Finish compiling the manuscript for The Origami Mage collection. Add supporting materials as necessary. Submit completed manuscript to Hunt Press.
* Write at least 100 poems.
* Write a set of darrow poems for each season.
* Continue holding one Poetry Fishbowl per month.
* Collate at least three more poetic series or threads into collection files.
* Create more supporting materials for poetic series as necessary, such as character cast lists or scientific notes.
* Supervise updates of the Polychrome Heroics material and other series.
* Sell at least one poem of 10 or fewer lines, eligible for the Dwarf Stars Award.
* Sell at least one poem of 50+ lines, eligible for the Rhysling Award long category.
* Finish at least one poem that was partly written and then abandoned.
* Sort through bingo cards and remove those from 2024.
* Participate in at least six bingo fests. [Begun 1/1/26 Public Domain Day Bingo,
* Keep up with writing records better, updating at least monthly.
EVENT GOALS
* Run the Rose & Bay Awards for 2026.
* Participate in the
snowflake_challenge.
* Participate in the March Meta Matters Challenge over on
marchmetamatterschallenge.

newcomers to help newcomers to Dreamwidth. This largely replaces
reddit_refugees, which will now get only occasional updates.
* Continue posting in
goals_on_dw to support New Year's resolutions and other goals.
* Keep track of my crowdfunding activity as the year goes on.
* Keep track of things I would like to receive as gifts.
* When posting for Moment of Silence, include "carry on the work" suggestions based on each person's activities.
* Do more archiving of web links to combat linkrot. I primarily use the Wayback Machine, but there are other options.
* Make year-end posts in my blog and communities.
OUTDOOR GOALS
* Finish at least two catalog orders for spring plants by the end of February. Orders sent in March or later do not count.
* Make a summer/fall order for things that aren't available in winter/spring.

* Revisit Country Arbors Nursery to shop for rocks.

* Spread mulch around at least 3 trees.
* Continue testing the durability of the two new paint pens on plant markers, at least through spring.
* Test the comfrey fertilizer.

-- For killing weeds, when undiluted.
* Put more bee plants in the prairie garden.
* Plant some landrace seeds or plants.

* Continue developing the landrace Shithouse Marigolds named 9/5/23.
* Work on proto-landrace sunflowers (to be called 'Summer of Love').
* Work on proto-landrace zinnias (to be called 'Shirley').
* Complete at least one significant outdoor project.
-- Put sand and gravel in their buckets.
-- Get larger troughs and/or square pots for old picnic table.
-- Get a multifunction sprinkler head for the hose and test its usefulness for watering plants.

FOOD GOALS
* Read at least six cookbooks, marking recipes of interest.
* Make at least one new recipe per month.
* Quite good, ** Made 2+ times
* Try at least one new cooking ingredient.
* Use the new Ninja Foodi PossbleCooker 11-in-1 multicooker.
CRAFT AND HOBBY GOALS
* Work on cleaning up the fairy window:
-- Remove dead leaves / plants.
-- Move empty pots to lower storage shelf.
-- Repot plants that need it.
* Apothecary cabinet:
-- apply food-safe finish
-- hang in kitchen
-- stock with bitters / spices.
* Multicolor yarn project:
-- clear ornament shells?
-- wall hanging with tresses & braids?

* Revisit the Idea Shop.

SEASONAL GOALS
* Take and post pictures at least once per season.
* Watch for new issues of A Day Away central Illinois magazine and pick them up. It comes out twice a year: Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. Available at Grissom Family Orchard or The Village Hall and Municipal Building in Greenup.
* Revisit Charleston Food Forest at least once each in spring, summer, and fall.
-- Try to catch a different food forest in Illinois or Indiana?
* Make at least one hiking or driving trip to view spring flowers and/or migrating birds.
* Catch a street fair.
* Shop at a farmer's market.
* Make at least one hiking or driving trip to view summer wildlife, a butterfly house, or a permaculture garden.
* Watch a fireworks display in July.
* Make at least one trip to gather seeds, such as wildflowers or edibles.
* Make at least one hiking or driving trip to view fall foliage, migratory birds, and/or a memorable cemetery.
* Make at least one driving or walking trip to view holiday lights between Thanksgiving and New Year.
MISCELLANEOUS GOALS
* Visit a Pagan store at least 3 times.
* At least 3 times, do tasks at Mom and Dad's house, such as packing up some of Mom's old clothes to donate them.
* Organize at least one area that is currently a mess.
