In this intergalactic adventure, a heroic space marine embarks on a mission to collect precious sun shards scattered throughout the galaxy. Along the way, they encounter hostile alien species and engage in intense battles to protect their mission. As they journey deeper into the unknown, they stumble upon barren tombs and spacecrafts, uncovering ancient secrets and technologies that could change the course of their mission. They must overcome the challenges that lie ahead and complete their quest before time runs out. Can you survive all 8 missions to save the planet from DOOM!?!
This is not at all my kind of game, but it snagged my attention for several reasons...
* Tincrafts are a significant category in both general crafts and upcycling. The idea is to make something useful and/or beautiful that will fit in a tin, usually an Altoids tin.
* Pocket-sized games tend to impress me. It is difficult to make something that is both good and concise. In this case, I am particularly impressed by the replayability: they managed to cram 8 missions into a tiny package.
* I also admire solo games. It's challenging to handle that kind of mechanics well.
* Put all that together and you have a game that -- provided you like its genre -- you can easily toss in a weekend bag, glove compartment, or emergency kit. It's not as versatile as dice and/or cards with a rulebook of 100+ games but it takes no more space, is self-contained, and has a solid theme. That makes it fine for short-term entertainment, especially if you consider it a disposable supply to be replaced after use.
