While modern children in local-Earth are often imprisoned in their own homes, Pictish children typically roam free over large expanses of rural and wilderness terrain where they are free to learn and grow on their own. This builds capability and thus confidence.
Rural Picts often keep bees in skeps, although the design has evolved over time. Modern ones provide an internal framework of branches for the bees to hang their honeycombs, with multiple sections of basketry that can be added to expand the hive then removed when full of honey. Instead of using smoke to control the bees, Pictish beekeeper put out bundles of flowers and herbs or dishes of honey to distract them during hive maintenance. They also use herbal scents and traditional chants to help the bees recognize the beekeepers as members of the hive community.
A different approach to housing bees is a log hive. These can be made in various ways, with top/bottom or side access, usually with internal branches to support the honeycomb although some people hang frames inside. A log type of structure works well in or near forests where scout bees will be looking for a good bee-tree. Thus they can be placed to pollinate fruit trees or other crops in an orchard, food forest, or similar environment.
Grazing on moorlands is a common part of management.
The River Findhorn is among the longest rivers in Scotland. Located in the north east, it flows into the Moray Firth on the north coast.

In this picture, it looks like an elongated manatee or perhaps a proto-dolphin. In Terramagne, Pictish waterbeasts are divided into riverbeasts (freshwater, also found in some lakes) and seabeasts (coastal, brackish or saltwater). Notice the coiled flippers in the rock carvings? Waterbeasts can do that to come out on dry land briefly, although they remain dependent on water for comfort and safety.

Bracken is a characteristic moorland plant in the United Kingdom. Sometimes it out-competes other native species such as moor grasses, cowberry, bilberry, and heathers. It is useful for animal bedding, tanning, soap and glass making, and as a fertilizer. It is toxic to cattle, dogs, sheep, pigs, and horses, and is also linked to cancers in humans. Because bracken favors poor soil, you can discourage it by boosting fertility. You can also just bash it with broomsticks.
