Thank you for hosting a small fandom community. I know lots of folks who love small fandoms and lament the lack of support for theirs. So it's really nice that some folks are keeping that sort of thing going.

Are you into creative bingo? allbingo runs a new fest each month, and hosts can pick any topic they want. I'm pretty sure we've never done your fandom before.

Creative bingo works by making a card with a prompt in each square. Our bingo card maker is here:

It goes from 1x1 for single prompts through the standard 5x5 on up to giant 7x7 size. There are lots of prompt lists already on the site, but you can upload your own.

Each fest has its own theme, sometimes with several sublists around a common topic. Customarily folks are free to make whatever they want, so they don't get shut out of a fest that focuses on an unfamiliar fandom, but the prompts really influence what fills get created. allbingo has been around for years, so we have a bunch of old familiar fests, which makes new ones especially attractive.

If you think this might appeal -- and you never know if someone in the audience my share your favorite fandom -- then consider playing a card to see if you enjoy the community. It can be a small card, lots of folks like the 3x3 size.

In fact, that's the series that started the custom of calling it "uplift" when one species gengineers another to become smarter.

I saw that when I looked up what it was about.

I also thought that an interesting variation would be to deem carry-along companion species who do not have spacefaring technology of their own as uplifts. I think we had a discussion about that sort of thing on here once before...

If you really want to get confusing, divide by cultures (not species) or even use it as slang for anyone piggybacking along on a higher-tech group. Like crops, and pets, or the colonial-empire practice of indentured servitude.
