We went up to visit Dad today. We had lunch there, and a nice visit. It ran longer than intended due to some issues with his vehicle, but that's settled at least for now.
On the way home we stopped at a park that Doug found. It's mostly marsh. There's a tower and a boardwalk, both a bit rickety with age. We saw a bald eagle, a great blue heron, a pair of swans, masses of blackbirds, a lot of ducks in various types, and a lot of Canada geese. There were some small brown-striped marsh birds that I've never seen before. I suspect they were some sort of rail, perhaps king rails. There was also a mammal swimming, possibly a muskrat. Something had build big mounds, almost like a beaver nest, but made of cattails instead of sticks, which also had not seen before. Apparently muskrats make two kinds of homes: a burrow in a bank, or piles of vegetation like that. Fascinating little park, and I hope to see it again before it gets too buggy.
