Notes for "We Get Along Best"
Oct. 24th, 2021 08:40 pmThese are the notes for "We Get Along Best."
Jack & the Beanstalk is on Woodland Boulevard near the big monument circle. It has picnic tables out front.
Bike racks outside the coffee shop offer parking. A bike-friendly business offers many advantages. Here are some ways to attract bikers.
Inside has tables and chairs along with bench tables. The counter stocks pastries as well as beverages.
In the back, a patio provides more space under a pergola with vines.
The coffee shop sells reusable beverage containers with illustrations of Jack and the Beanstalk. Ceramic mugs come in blue, green, yellow, and orange styles. The plastic travel cup is more multicolored.
Jack & the Beanstalk does a lot of baking with beans. Many desserts use beans, and there are high-protein gluten-free recipes. René orders a Cashew Milk Latte and a Healthy White Bean, Banana and Walnut Muffin. Ansel orders a Mocha Latte and a Flourless Black Bean Brownie Muffin.
For a first date, a bicycle ride is a good choice. Here are some fun ideas for that.
Sharing food is a way of human bonding. This helps a first date go well.
21 FIRST DATE QUESTIONS…THAT AREN’T LAME AF
A - Sweet tooth or savoury tooth? (René savory, Ansel sweet)
R - Where’s the coolest place you’ve ever been? (Gun Totem and Grand Hand Cannon Museum in Providence, Rhode Island, Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park, MT)
A - Are you a morning or a night person? (René is morning, Ansel night)
R - Do you have any first date horror stories? (girl dumped her drink on Ansel and left after learning he's a party monitor; epic rainstorm ending in canoe)
A - Are you close to your family? (both are)
R - What should I know about you that I’d never think to ask about? (Ansel likes supervillains, René has low alcohol tolerance)
Going-to-the-Sun Road
Location: Glacier National Park, MT
Distance: 48.7 miles (one way)
Terrain: Road
Level: Advanced
If climbing 3,300 feet (much of it in the final 10-mile stretch) and topping out at a 6,646-foot elevation sounds right up your alley, this destination is for you! There’s a sort of daredevil feel to the ride as you’re pedaling on a narrow path, carved out of the side of a mountain — but you can imagine the sights that come with it. During the spring months, you don’t have to worry about cars as it’s only open to bikers and hikers. Check here for closures.
When to Go: Spring and summer
The average individual conducting a long-distance bicycle tour will cycle between 40 and 60 miles (64 – 96 kilometers) each day. However, distances both shorter and longer than this are quite common.
In Terramagne-Providence, the Gun Totem stands in the yard of the Grand Hand Cannon Museum, which showcases the history of ordinary firearms followed by zap guns. It contains some famous seized weapons that were dysfunctional at the time of capture, thus minimally useful for study.

This interesting sculpture in Rhode Island was made using over 1,000 reclaimed guns and concrete. It’s a 12-foot obelisk that was commissioned by the Providence Parks Department and stands across from the Federal Courthouse.
There are occasions when gay men marry women, one type of mixed-orientation marriage. While it can work out fine, more often it causes problems. Women may feel defrauded by this. Therefore, it is best to identify orientations beforehand so people can marry with informed consent, whatever their orientations turn out to be.
When questioning sexuality, there are various ways to explore it, with tips for bi-curious men, women, and soloists.
Hormonal birth control can interfere with relationships and even cause women to choose incompatible mates. When people don't realize this until they go off it to get pregnant, the consequences tend to be miserable. So it is better to go off it before committing to marriage. With long-term versions, this can require waiting several years.

Date: 2021-10-25 03:13 am (UTC)A less often seen variant of "figure-out-and-informed-consent" would be a poly person and a monogamous person.
I actually can't think of a good example of that one right now...
Well ...

Date: 2021-10-25 01:59 pm (UTC)...actually the only healthy poly relationship I can think of off the top if my head is Flourite* from Steven Universe; but she's already a stable relationship at the point we meet her.
*Context: she is a fusion, aka physical manifestation of a relationship.
Re: Well ...
Date: 2021-10-25 08:19 pm (UTC)Hell, I have a hard time finding healthy media portrayals of any relationship. Usually they go for drama instead of having characters actually work things out. There are rare moments, though. I'm particularly fond of one in Lucifer where Chloe got drunk and started throwing herself at Lucifer, who had been fruitlessly pursuing her for months. And instead of taking advantage, he gently disengaged. "It would seem that I'm ... saying no." He baffled himself, but he did the right thing.

Fair enough. I'd say that counts.
If you like poly, I have several polycules in play. Some include mixed-orientations; at least two have an asexual member. One is a pair of lesbians and their gay sperm donor friend; I'll call that a family because it acts as one. There's the Hefty/Roger and Fiddlesticks/Diamond foursquare. There's also a hilarious white cape/gray cape/black cape triad. So feel free to prompt for mixed-orientation activities, but try to pick one of the polycules I've already statted up because those things take days to build.
Re: Well ...
Date: 2021-10-26 04:29 am (UTC)I'm watching the new Charmed series and you could make a drinking game out of this.
Someone should write an actual feminist 'sister's fight the powers of evil' story. With intersectionality, and consistant consent and people actually getting decent therapy/emotional labor and the leaders not being jerks.
>>And instead of taking advantage, he gently disengaged. "It would seem that I'm ... saying no." He baffled himself, but he did the right thing.<<
I actually read something the other day which had basically the same scenario, except they were dating, and she probably wouldn't have even known it was unethical if he'd said yes (bad past boyfriend). Although I think the mutual friends in the room would have called him on it...
>>If you like poly, I have several polycules in play.<<
The relationship dynamics are interesting, (and I really enjoy the high-level communication skills that correlate) but honestly I was more thinking of your tendency to skip ahead of the ... hmmm... inclusivity timeline? when writing. I figured there was a gap in the existing literature of society so I might as well mention it.
That said one day I so want to see a love triangle where two (platonic) points decide to respectfully talk it out with the object of their affection, instead of the usual media portrayal of mind games, fighting, or 'forget the girl, epic bromance!' Oh, and no expectation that person #3 is obligated to choose either of them.
>>...I'll call that a family because it acts as one.<<
There's the family you are born into, the family you build, and the family you grow. And they don't all have to be the same.
>>...try to pick one of the polycules I've already statted up because those things take days to build.<<
This cartoon may make a good jumping off point the next time you want to do a less-typical poly setup. (Not 100% sure as I'm not exactly sure how you stat up characters.) If nothing else the comic is an informative read.

Mallory decided to keep Heron when she saw him helping a passed-out drunk girl instead of molesting her.

I'll keep it in mind. Is there a particular way/time that would be best for prompting new series-es?

How to be surrounded by women (advice for men): don't be a jerk, do emotional labor and learn how to cook.
And if that doesn't feel badass enough, do it while wearing a leather jacket or something.

Date: 2021-10-27 03:52 am (UTC)Oh, and I'm glad you think I have good ideas. I appreciate being appreciated!

Date: 2021-10-28 01:02 am (UTC)I usually aim to start new series early in the year, so February or March have potential there. (January tends to be for short, non-series things.) But any month when it matches a theme is fine.

Hone your listening skills; women often feel that men don't listen to them.
Sadly, these will not assist mate selection. Women tend to want nice guys for friends and macho jerks for fucking. I have attempted to point out that this makes treating women well into counterevolutionary behavior, but that just pisses people off.
