Good News

Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

The main good news is I’ve finally had my first jab, last week, which makes me feel a little better. (And I finished uni course too)

Well, we have a new fridge arriving today.

We bought the existing one when we moved here and it's a little small for our needs.

It's also nice to be able to do someone else a favour at the same time as we're donating the existing one to a local housing charity and it'll be perfect in a small flat or house.

Got offered a new job. Just have to wait for my PVG to come back.

Bought a table and chairs for the kitchen along with a bin.

Travelling around my hometown with my visitors this week.

Finally got my car serviced -- I should have done it a year and a half ago, but COVID happened. And it turned out that all it needed was a recall repair and an inspection, so it didn't cost anything. Recommended service is rotating the tires around the end of November. I love my Chevy Bolt. No oil changes, no tune-ups, no gas, ...

It's been kind of a miserable year, but at least one thing went better than I expected. I'll take it.

I've managed to accept that writing is a social activity and writing entire drafts before getting feedback is never gonna work for me, consequently increasing my writing output considerably. Anyone with an interest in Stormlight Archive, Skyward, Shameless (US), or Leverage may find some of what I've come out with so far entertaining: ao3.org/users/heartsinger.
I learned a lot about how to script (CSS & HTML) AO3 workskins because figuring out how to both make texts and letters pretty on any browser AND still make sense in Creator's Style Off mode, because my commitment to accessibility does not end when I'm not volunteering. Sadly, I can't show it off because none of the works for which I did all this learning are ready. But if anyone wants help with that, I might be able to. I want people to see it and those stories are being Stubborn.
