Body dysphoria is a feeling of disconnection and wrongness between self and flesh. While most commonly known in relation to transgender and eating disorders, it is also very prevalent with physical superpowers like crayon hair. People with this problem may resent being told to love their body. There are ways to reduce the feeling.

Feeling unwanted, unloved, and unlovable are common effects of foster care and other traumatic experiences. Troubled teens share their perspectives on these issues. Positive bonds can aid in healing from trauma, but survivors often resist these. Here are some ideas on how to cope.

(These links are miserable.)
Attachment is vitally important in foster care. Unfortunately, the first thing that foster care always does is put stress on attachments, and most often winds up ripping them out by the roots. Victims of multiple placements therefore learn to avoid caring about anyone or anything else. This form of child abuse is routine and legal, but it does massive damage, which is difficult or impossible to fix. Foster children often become so terrified of the "people movers" taking them away again that they avoid reporting abuse or neglect. Blainn has been handling his problems by running away.

Survivors of foster care may need support from caregivers to form healthy relationships. Sometimes, strong relationships can help heal trauma.

(Some of these links are intense.)
Trust is complicated for abuse survivors. The often feel that they can't trust anyone. This may have been, or still be, correct distrust. In Blainn's case, he has gone from an untrustworthy environment to a more trustworthy one, but his past leaves him struggling to distinguish between untrustworthy and trustworthy people. Other people may not even realize why they have trouble with trust. Some people claim that trust is mandatory, but emotions can't be mandatory. Certainly it is useful in a team and vital for a healthy relationship. But don't try to shame people for not feeling that way. There are ways to gain the trust of emotionally different people.

In entertainment, a common pattern is We Will Meet Again. In nature, it's a dominance fight. The point is to win a conflict which grants access to desired resources, not usually to maim or kill anyone. It's why so many superheroes and principled supervillains pull their punches, use equipment that nerfs their powers, and/or otherwise stop short of total annihilation.

New England Neptune is a type of mollusc and the State Seashell of Massachusetts.

Skin hunger happens when someone doesn't get enough healthy touch. When combined with touch aversion, it is particularly prone to cause problems, because as a general rule primates need touch. Blainn's resistance comes from two main sources: his body dysphoria due to crayon hair, and his past abuse. Getting past that is hard for him, but at least he enjoys the hair-petting with Junket once he gets used to it.

Sensory processing disorder is one thing that may benefit from treatment such as sensory integration activities. These can help whether the issue is a distortion of senses, difficulty processing sensory input in the brain, or extremely acute senses -- but you'll get better results if you know which of those applies to a given case. The difference just comes down to whether the information is accurate (super-senses) or inaccurate (sensory processing disorder).

Sniffing paint can have unfortunate outcomes. One of the few places Terramagne is worse than here lies in drug abuse, due to more advanced chemistry and in some cases zetetics.

Crow Wing is a new paint with high gloss and iridescent, metallic sheen like a bird's wing. It has structural colors in addition to any base pigments. When misused as an inhalant, it has visual effects such as halos around lights and subtle shimmers of color. However, it has zetetic background and can be metagenic in a few cases, causing people to develop superpowers, usually relating to color. It comes in spray or regular forms.

Galaxxxy Slam and Galaxxxy Dance are two new paints by the same company. Galaxxxy Slam is neon / blacklight paint. When misused as an inhalant, it gives a floating effect that also magnifies the thumping feel of impact such as footsteps. Galaxxxy Dance is iridescent / metallic paint. When misused as an inhalant, it gives a floating effect plus a slow, spinning vertigo. However, they have zetetic background and can be metagenic in a few cases, causing people to develop superpowers, usually relating to color. Both paints are available in single colors or several self-mixing blends. They come in spray or regular forms.

Madras Run is a semipermanent paint designed to bleed and fade. Without a topcoat of fixative, it typically washes off of outside walls in 3-6 weeks depending on rain levels. The same company also makes Madras Hold, with similar colors that stay put. These paints are nontoxic and not zetetic. When misused as an inhalant, it gives a mellow effect. It comes in spray or regular forms.

Beautie Gloo is a recently released art glue that comes in different colors, some with iridescent effects. It has solids and self-mixing blends. When misused as an inhalant, it gives a brief bubbly high.

Rokk Poxxy is a thick, powerful epoxy that can be used as a glue or an art medium for casting and sculpting. It comes in plain and colored versions. It gives off potent fumes, especially if colored, so it should be used in a well-ventilated area. When misused as an inhalant, it delivers a potent high but is easy to overdose and prone to causing damage.
