Apologies need several parts to be effective. Things will inevitably go wrong between people, and you need to understand how to repair your relationships. Here is an example from the kink community. Follow the steps to earn back broken trust. A significant offense requires a concrete apology, not just idle words. In this scene, Warshirt and Spotted Deer apologize to each other for the earlier tangle.
Informed consent applies to all contexts, but is most often discussed in regard to medical care and human studies. In this case, the tangled relationship makes consent challenging for Warshirt and Spotted Deer. Now they are trying to work out something better. Lin has provided helpful input on boundaries and consent. Here's a discussion about the spectrum of consent. Advance directives let people specify how to handle specific health issues or situations. A WRAP workbook is good for all kinds of variable situations, and can be adapted to "what to do if Warshirt comes home drunk." After their discussion, they both have at least a sketchy idea of things to do and to avoid, which is a lot of progress.
Deer food plots give good ideas for what they like to eat, including oats, wheat, peas, clover, alfalfa, radishes, cabbage, and sunflowers.
Vegetarian diets come in different styles. Spotted Deer is probably closest to the flexitarian approach, because her body combines deer and human features. Meat has low appeal for her, but she can digest it, and eating some occasionally makes it easier to get certain nutrients. Creating a healthy vegetarian diet is a lot more complicated and challenging than an omnivore diet, but it can be done. Explore a vegetarian shopping list and some recipes.
Communication is an essential human need and the means of social interaction. Poor communication skills lead to poor relationships and other unhappiness. Explore how to improve your communication skills.
Speaking is the active half of verbal communication. You can learn better speaking skills.
Listening is the receptive half of verbal communication. Read about how to develop your listening skills.
Communication can be difficult for many reasons. Introverts, men, abuse survivors, and people with disabilities may struggle to express themselves. Some folks avoid talking about their problems because it just makes them feel worse. However, if you don't talk about your problems, they usually don't get fixed. Know how to talk about difficult topics with your partner. Here are some tips for helping people to talk about their problems.
Veterans can have a lot of problems. Support from friends and family can help them cope. There are ways to reduce violence at home.
Nightmares are a common symptom of PTSD. There are various treatments for PTSD nightmares and advice for health workers. People debate whether or not it's acceptable for adults to seek comfort after a nightmare, so most of the advice relates to children's nightmares. Understand how to cope with flashbacks and deal with nightmares.
Substance abuse is common among veterans. This can cause problems in families, depending on severity. One spectrum of substance use goes from beneficial to casual to problematic to dependent. This example of alcohol use goes from abstinence to low-risk use to risky use to problem drinking to alcohol abuse to alcoholism. Sometimes society resorts to forced treatment for substance abuse, but that is ineffective, sometimes harmful, and violates human rights.
Here is a flowchart that suggests how to identify and address issues with alcohol use.
If pressed to talk about it, Warshirt describes his issue as "problem drinking," which is reasonable given that he actually has markers across a wide range of the spectrum. He doesn't drink every day, and doesn't get drunk every time he drinks. He's perfectly capable of having one beer with a meal or at a party, on a good day. Drinking hasn't mangled his life. The problem is that Warshirt can't resist getting thoroughly smashed on a bad day with alcohol in reach. He drinks way too much, occasionally drives drunk, and often passes out in awkward or risky situations. He has gotten arrested more than once for disruptive or violent behavior while drunk. He does not have a chemical dependence, but does have an erratic psychological dependence. He isn't happy about the drinking problem and has tried to resist the temptation, but various treatment efforts either didn't work or actively made matters worse. Even the traditional approach didn't help because Warshirt is already well-versed in his culture; all he got from Red Road was a realization that he wasn't ready to stop binge-drinking.
The Red Road is a traditional treatment approach offered at Yellow Bird Woman Lodge in the Blackfeet Community College. Here is one of their meetings.
PTSD causes biochemical imbalances. For someone with Pheromone Powers like Spotted Deer, the fluctuations may be conspicuous.
Passing out in public makes people vulnerable to things like drunk drawing and drunk tattoos. Warshirt is touchy about this due to bad experiences in the past.
Boundaries are necessary for good relationships. Understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy boundaries. Abuse survivors often have an impaired sense of boundaries and thus may need help managing healthy ones. It's important to understand boundaries, know when your boundaries are being violated, and realize that people may not know when they're doing that. Survivors can work on repairing their own boundaries and respecting other people's boundaries.
Maxitack is a super-gizmotronic adhesive that will attach anything and only comes loose by using a matched super-gizmo to release the bonding field. The other way to separate things it has glued together is by tearing off the surface, which is unpleasant if it is skin.
Winter salad includes ingredients available in the cold season. Unlike here, T-America offers winter mix salad greens as well as spring mix. It features salad greens that grow well in autumn to winter.
