Good news includes all the things which make us happy or otherwise feel good. It can be personal or public. We never know when something wonderful will happen, and when it does, most people want to share it with someone. It's disappointing when nobody is there to appreciate it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our joys and pat each other on the back.

What good news have you had recently? Are you anticipating any more? Have you found a cute picture or a video that makes you smile? Is there anything your online friends could do to make your life a little happier?

The person I fell really hard for last April had been getting over a sudden & traumatic breakup, and was uncertain about their feelings and not ready for a relationship, then last October they told me they weren't interested in romance with me (we remained close friends, but I was also sad a lot). Last Saturday, they told me they'd been realizing how much their breakup and the problems associated with it had affected them, and so romance with me is now back in the maybe category which is impressively awesome. Of course, I found out about this the same day I found out they'd be moving across the US to deal with family stuff for a year or maybe two (but planned to return), which is hard, but I'm also very experienced with long distance romances.

It's only a small thing, and it's silly... but we have stray cat we've taken in. We've long suspected he's a 'cog' a cat who's been raised in a dog household and learnt to socialise from dogs. [cat socialisation isn't hard-wired but is learnt] which means his and our other cats body language doesn't quite mesh at times..

However, as of yesterday, I discovered by accident that he's clicker trained. That you can tell him 'No!' with a click of the fingers and he's instantly drops to his belly. Further experimentation determined that he knows 'heel' 'sit' and 'go to your bed'. [box in the front of the fire], and maybe other commands but he was getting tired of playing by that point.

He obeys about 80% of the time, he's still a cat after all... but this is going to make integrating him into the existing 'tribe' rather easier. Not to mention is hilarious as all heck.

Surgery went well, not nearly as painful or horrible as everyone kept telling me it would be. Came out of anesthesia well.

Things are stabilizing with the new meds

My new fish had babies so the new tank setup is much better than the old tank.

My semester is over - aside from a little bit of wrap up with my internship- and now I get a break until the second week of June. Yay! Flop.

Backpay because medicaid paid premiums for Medicare part B means I'm still out of the hole financial wise, and haven't needed to ask a certain check in com for finances.

...

Roommie and I talked through a lot of stuff, and I'm not doing near as bad with some thing as I had feared, so I'm happy about that.

It's...the little things right now.

I started quilting again. I made a lap throw for myself, ready for backing and batt, in an afternoon.

The other project is more daunting: it's a scrap quilt with no clue where to go besides "here's a bag of materials." I've got the focal points stitched together, need to cut them into strips. Instead of making square blocks, traditional style, it's based on a "jelly roll race" quilt, where the 44" strips, 3" wide, are sewn end to end to make one massive strip, which is then doubled over again and again and again, halving the length of the strip each time as it grows wider.

So, the imagery is long strips of fabric, at semi-random lengths, usually forming horizontal stripes on the finished quilt. My variation is (a) vertical stripes, and (B) the long random bits, BECAUSE this is made with scraps anywhere from 7" long to a full strip of 44", the piecings at random are interspersed with the strip of seven squares that form a focal strip. Cutting this apart the usual way will make a diagonal staggering of the focal strips to form a secondary pattern. If my math is right, I've got enough scraps to make a 45"*60" quilt, fantastic size for a baby, toddler or a lap throw.

Now I want to see if I can get this done and still write 4K today.

Graduation

I graduate from undergrad this week. I will have a BA in Sociology, a BA in Social Work, a certificate in Interdisciplinary Trauma Studies, and a minor in Activism, Advocacy, and Social Change. I'm probably graduating magna cum laude. But there's no official ceremony happening this year due to Covid, just a little Not!Graduation Zoom one with the Social Work Department. It doesn't feel really real yet. But I'm starting to realize just how much of an accomplishment that all that I've achieved is. I feel proud of myself, and that is a hard thing for me to do. But I'm letting myself feel it.

I have started to put in more applications about working from home/remote positions. Had 1 email back but that wasn't remote and not in the sane state as me. Oh well.

Any suggestions on work from home jobs preferably clerical would be welcome.

Happy hunting to you - I've been pleased to write copy for textbroker.com for eight years now and can recommend them if you've a bent for advertising. One bummer thing is that California's AB5 puts the kibosh on writing more than 34 articles for textbroker's site, but if you're not from California, it's an excellent place to work. I'm from California. :S
