Comic Mix has a post about their battle to protect fair use in mashups. It's written in verse. Read, enjoy, and send them a donation to help protect transformative works for everyone.
I'd write this in Seussian verse, but I haven't the cope But basically to corporation lawsuits, we must just say "nope" The thing about fandom - it just wants to have fun but They want ALL THE DOLLARS, yes every last one. Well, they can't have mine! it's going to you and to ComixMix and bards and storytellers too... I don't know how I do this; it just starts to flow... but the import for all of us: JUST STAND AND SAY NO!
A dollar or two, or a signal to boost will keep corporations from cooking our goose The next lines I write are aimed at the jerks and they are definitely not safe for works I so hate to say this, but honest to Zeus Support fannish causes, and FUCK DOCTOR SEUSS!
Indeed, I keep telling people this is an effective way to handle abusive corporations selling entertainment: ignore them. Buy something else. You can make your own amusements or pay someone you actually like to make things according to your interests. You don't have to consume content peddled by assholes.
I do! I pay you for poetry, any number of indie bands for music, annathepiper for books, leannan_sidhe for custom decorative sewing, Friday Afternoon Tea for, well, tea, Art by Zan for stuffies and painting... and I find the more I'm able to pay people I care about enough to hug, and who care enough to hug back? The happier I am.
Yeah, I don't have a lot of disposable income, but I like to spend it on individual creators when I can.
Today we went shopping up in Arthur. One of the things we found was grass-fed milk ... which is rather a bright shade of yellow. :D I suspect this guy is running Jersey or Geurnsey cows, rather than the Holsteins our old dairy used to have, because this is higher in butterfat than I remember. Low-pasteurized, not homogenized. <3
a turn for the verse...
