Today we're making a version of this recipe for Curried Black-Eyed Peas. I say version because there are some inexact instructions that will wind up making ours somewhat different. I'm taking notes so I can write up the details later. Meanwhile, the house smells increasingly of cumin and other spices. :P''''

Date: 2018-01-11 03:10 am (UTC)I think one of my main achievements of 2017 was introducing cumin to my siblings and having them actually like it! I've successfully added Cajun and Jamaican Jerk inspired spice mixes to the regular family dinner rotation. Someday I'm going to get curry in there but the last few attempts at Indian haven't gone well and my sister hates coconut milk in savory dishes so I haven't had much like with Thai curries either.

* I liked the kale better than expected. It does wilt fast, but the stems stay crunchy. If I make this again, I'll cook it longer -- or look for a different leafy green.
* The overall spice blend was delicious. It could've used a bigger can of coconut milk, though.
If you have access to a rotisserie, Jamaican Jerk Sauce works great on rotisserie chicken.
