Little Free Pantries

I saw this article about Little Free Pantries, a variation of Little Free Libraries.   These stock food and beverages, occasionally things like craft supplies that are more typical of a Givebox.  It's an effective way to patch small gaps in food access, which improves public health and safety.

I agree. It's a problem when a culture declares that all the food already belongs to someone, all the water, all the land ... and then refuses to guarantee its members a way to earn access. Survival becomes a paid privilege instead of a right. >_<

I honestly think the real reason the authorities keep attacking Little Free Libraries and related concepts is control. They can't afford to let people see an alternative for paying to exist.

Agreed, it's why the Tories over here keep trying to shut-down the food banks and soup kitchens. Because how dare poor people eat for free!

They really want poor people to die. They don't want to create jobs or pay people enough to live on, but then call them lazy moochers. >_< And then wonder why they have a scandalously high suicide rate.

One of the reasons why I'm suspicious about them opting out of the European Human Rights act... I do not think they'd instigate a 'final solution'... but given the chance they'd cut away all the social support nets and cut benefits back to below starvation level which has much the same effect. At present, they can't legally as EU law prevents it.

*shrug* It's genocide when your actions have the effect of killing people in a specific group or destroying their culture. Whether you admit to that as a goal is irrelevant. Looking at the death rate from suicide, untreated illnesses, etc. is enough to make the case.

The first post I saw about the Little Free Pantries mentioned that a lot of them also stock tampons. One of those things that often get forgotten because only biological women need them.
