Poem: "The Cat Blanket"

This is the linkback perk from the July 5, 2016 Poetry Fishbowl. It's spillover from the June 7, 2016 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from LJ user Paantha. It also fills the "yes" square in my 6-1-16 card for the Cottoncandy Bingo fest. This poem belongs to the series Frankenstein's Family.
"The Cat Blanket"
Csilla, Dénes, and Dorottya
lay cuddled together in the big bed.
After feeding, the vampire
was pleasantly drowsy and
so were her donors.
Csilla was glad they had
said yes to feeding her and
letting her into their lives and even,
in an odd way, into their marriage.
She felt doubly grateful that
they had all managed to make up
for the awkward beginning of it.
Outside, wind howled and rattled
along the walls, carrying snow.
The storm had blown up while
Csilla was visiting, so Dénes and
Dorottya had invited her to stay.
A fire blazed in the hearth,
but even with a plentiful supply
of fuelwood, it could not keep up
with the storm. The fierce wind
stripped away the heat almost as
fast as the flames could make it.
Csilla shivered, and pressed
herself closer to Dénes.
"I think that it's time to get
the cat blanket," Dorottya said.
"Cat blanket?" Csilla said, looking
at the goosedown comforter.
"That doesn't sound very warm."
Dénes laughed. "We don't keep
housecats like the high ladies do, but
the village has plenty of good mousers --
who can share their warm coats in a storm."
"When it gets this cold, it's not good
for the cats to stay outdoors anyway,"
Dorottya said. "Their little ears
can freeze and wilt at the tips."
So Dénes and Dorottya went outside,
and soon came back with their arms full
of friendly cats, which they dried off with
towels until the cats were fluffy and purring.
There were black ones and white ones
and spotted ones, even a single calico.
Soon everyone piled back into the bed,
followed by most of the cats, although
one remained stubbornly sprawled
in front of the hearth instead.
Csilla discovered that that cat blanket
was not only warm, but also musical.
"This is a wonderful idea," she said.
"Mmmhmm," Dénes said drowsily.
"Lean over and blow out the oil lamp."
Csilla blew out the lamp.

Notes:
Lots of people like to sleep with cats.
