It's not sad. I feel the same way, hence why I write him like this. I've always had a certain inclination in that direction, and okay my hero-bone is really poking out to say that I felt protective of a nearly-indestructible giant when I've been watching Hulk since I was little, but it got even stronger after seeing The Avengers because of the body language there.

Well, yeah. Hulk is signalling "I'm hurting, somebody comfort me." At this point it's not entirely to safe to have squishy people around him when he's upset, but he'll get there later in the series.
