The extra motivation really helps. Alas, I've largely quit buying CDs because they used to all play on any machine they'd fit into. Now I've got some that only play on the computer, some that only play on the CD player in the living room, and some that play on both. But there's no way to tell before buying, where a given disc won't play; and my listening habits in different locations have very little overlap. So then it's a gamble, and that raises the bar for my willingness to buy something.
