Photos: South Lot and Savanna

The pink peony is open under the fly-through feeder. I might call this flower style semi-double. When fully open, a large mass of bright yellow stamens dance in the breeze. The fully-double white ones don't really show the center.
Looking east in the south lot, you can see the garden shed.
Looking west in the south lot, you can see the new picnic table and septic garden.
The end of the picnic table shows pots with tomatoes, marigolds, and other things. These are "before" pictures because today's big project was putting the trough pots on the benches of the new picnic table, so it all looks different now.
This is the south side of the picnic table, looking north.
'Bright Lights' Swiss Chard really does have pretty colors.
The first ice plant is blooming.
The septic garden just looks like a patch of tall grass. I haven't had time to clean it out yet. Those big pots have tomatoes and marigolds though.
Looking west from the driveway, this field has little shoots of corn showing.
This white peony has buds tended by a colony of tiny black ants.
This white peony has buds tended by larger, reddish-yellow ants. I'm surprised because most peonies have black ants, and these buds are just a few inches apart.
This part of the telephone pole garden has seeds planted.
Assorted Asiatic lilies grow around the telephone pole.
Around the base of the support wire, cypress vine seeds have been sown but aren't up yet.
The petals have fallen from the first poppy.
This green seedpod is left behind.
Several more poppies are blooming near the telephone pole garden.

Although I study ants, I'm not really an entomologist, so these are mostly informed guesses. It's just fun to know who you might be looking at.

I looked again today and saw the large reddish-yellow ants, smaller black ants, and really tiny black ants all just a few inches apart.

I'm no expert either, but I enjoy observing ants. I like the AntsCanada channel on YouTube.
