This is the freebie for today's Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from ellenmillion and
anke.
Rob in the 'Hood
Roberto wears a green baseball cap
turned backward with the bill over his neck.
A stolen smartphone hides
deep in the pocket of his jeans.
He hacks through firewalls
yet never sets his tail alight.
He is more than a ghost in the machine,
sly fox slipping through the cyber forests
stealing the golden eggs from under unsuspecting geese.
Roberto walks through the 'hood
murmuring reassurances:
"You don't need to worry about that bill no more.
It's all taken care of now."
Far behind him,
the old gray geese
begin to squawk up a storm.
