Nicola Griffith has written a splendid essay on "Identity and SF" that relates her personal discovery of the genre, how and why it works, and the ways it can change our perspective on the world. It's a must-read piece.
Also worth exploring is Nicola's own science fiction. I'm especially intrigued by her earlier novel Ammonite.

Date: 2008-07-05 07:08 pm (UTC)I'm okay today. Mostly I've spent the day working on a Llewellyn article, "Magic and Subjectivity." Hopefully I'll get outside later for some fruit picking. We've got a Year-and-a-Day Class tomorrow on "Ethics and Etiquette."
