Everyone needs contact comfort sometimes. Not everyone has ample opportunities for this in facetime. So here is a chance for a cuddle party in cyberspace. Virtual cuddling can help people feel better.

We have a cuddle room that comes with fort cushions, fort frames, sheets for draping, and a weighted blanket. A nest full of colorful egg pillows sits in one corner. There is a basket of grooming brushes, hairbrushes, and styling combs. A bin holds textured pillows. There is a big basket of craft supplies along with art markers, coloring pages, and blank paper. The kitchen has a popcorn machine. Labels are available to mark dietary needs, recipe ingredients, and level of spiciness. Here is the bathroom, open to everyone. There is a lawn tent and an outdoor hot tub. Bathers should post a sign for nude or clothed activity. Come snuggle up!
ysabetwordsmith: Text -- three weeks for dreamwidth, in pink (three weeks for dreamwidth)
This year during Three Weeks for Dreamwidth, I'm writing about goal-setting frameworks for [community profile] goals_on_dw. Read Part 1: Introduction to Goal-Setting Frameworks, Part 2: The 1-3-5 Rule, Part 3: The 12-week Year, Part 4: ABCS (Achievable, Believable, Committed, Specific), Part 5: Backward Goal, Part 6: BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goals), Part 7: BSQ (Think Big, Act Small, Move Quick), Part 8: CLEAR (Collaborative, Limited, Emotional, Appreciable, Refinable), Part 9: Goal Pyramid, Part 10: Golden Circle, Part 11: GROW (Goal, Reality, Options, Way Forward), Part 12: HARD (Heartfelt, Animated, Required, Difficult), Part 13: KPI (Key Performance Indicators.

Part 13: KPI (Key Performance Indicators)

KPI stands for Key Performance Indicators. These are things you measure as part of pursuing your main goal, to see your progress toward reaching it. As a general rule, you will get more of what you measure, so choose mindfully. They can also be goals unto themselves. Say you have a goal of becoming the top cheese seller in your city. As part of this, you might set a target of selling X pounds of cheese per week, which is both a goal of its own and a way of measuring how close you are to becoming the top cheese seller.

Birdfeeding

Today is partly sunny and mild.

I've seen a male rose-breasted grosbeak and a blue jay at the fly-through feeder.  :D

EDIT 5/7/25 -- I fed the birds.  I've seen a male indigo bunting, a male cardinal, and a brown thrasher.

I put out water for the birds.  I dumped the red birdbath and refilled it.  While I haven't seen any birds using it, the amount of dirt and algae in the water strongly implies that they are.

I put the flats of plants outside.

EDIT 5/7/25 -- We went out to pick up more garden supplies: 2 bags of potting soil, 1 bag of composted manure, and roughly 2 flats of plants.  The weather has warmed up.

My partner Doug is going out to mow the house yard and some other places.

EDIT 5/7/25 -- I planted a purple-and-white striped Wave petunia in a pot by itself.  I filled 2 green pots, each with 2 black pansies and 2 Johnny-jump-ups.

EDIT 5/7/25 -- I raked the center path of the prairie garden, then sowed it with grass and clover seed.

I brought in the flats of pots.

As it is now dark, I am done for the night.  *goflopnow*

Today is Speak Your Language Day.  If you know multiple languages, use all of them!  If not, grab some fragments such as quotes or words that don't translate, and do something with those.

Celebrate Speak Your Language Day with Translated Books from Around the World!

Some of my works feature languages other than English.

"Hanes" / "History" is bilingual in Welsh / English and won me an award.

"Shumáad Delineha" / "Space Flight" is a bilingual poem in Láadan and English.

Clay of Life has bits of several Jewish languages.

Fiorenza the Wisewoman uses some Italian.

Frankenstein's Family has pieces of multiple European languages.

Hart's Farm has mostly Swedish excerpts but also a few others.

The Origami Mage is Asian and features mostly Japanese bits.

Maybe you think capitalism is a shitty system from top to bottom. Maybe you think it just has some flaws. Maybe you're curious about alternatives for their own sake. Maybe you've noticed that money is only useful when there's enough to go around, and no matter how you cook the books, you cannot run 90% of the economy on 10% of the wealth. Whatever your reasons, here are some ways you can fight against capitalism, if you want to tilt at that windmill...
