Birdfeeding

Today is cloudy, cool, and wet.  It stormed earlier today.

I fed the birds.  I've seen several house finches.

EDIT 4/4/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.

I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches.

EDIT 4/4/25 -- I managed to plant the 4 hollyhocks from the Burpee order.  I put 2 in the telephone pole garden, and since I've had a hard time establishing hollyhocks there, I put 2 near the barrel garden to see if that'll work better.

EDIT 4/4/25 -- I spread mulch around the hollyhocks by the barrel garden.  I also planted a plum pit to see if it will sprout.

It started drizzling again, and now is raining quite briskly, so I am done for the night.

The Tully Monster

This is the state fossil of Illinois.  It's so weird that paleontologists are still arguing over whether it was invertebrate or vertebrate.  This is not helped by the amount of assumptions people make about very ancient organisms based on modern ones.  Remember, back then anything was possible, and not all of it necessarily worked well enough to continue.
