A New Use for AI
Jan. 2nd, 2025 01:22 pmThinking about Hapsburg AI and the problems caused when new AI trains on older AI-generated content made me realize a new use for AI: sabotage. So far, it has been common for companies to train their AI using online content, and they don't give a flying fuck about consent or boundaries.
So a creative person sharing their work online could mix in some AI-generated entries, such that any AI scraping their site without permission would take damage from the inbreeding effect. *cackle* Just let your audience know what you're doing and how to distinguish your work from the boobytraps. I'm sure people would have fun thinking of creative and amusing ways to do that. And what if everyone did that? It would rapidly become very unsafe for programmers to steal content for training purposes.

Birdfeeding
Jan. 2nd, 2025 02:49 pmToday is sunny and chilly. Heavy snow is predicted for Sunday.
I haven't fed the birds. yet. I've seen a flock of sparrows and two mourning doves.
I gathered 4 trolleys of leaves from the patio and spread them around trees in the house yard.
EDIT 1/2/25 -- I fed the birds. I hung up a new corncob.
I put out water for the birds.
EDIT 1/2/25 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.
I've seen a mixed flock of sparrows and house finches, plus a male and a female cardinal separately.
I discovered that there were some crosne knotroots left in the bag I collected earlier, which were now sprouting. Most of these were quite tiny which is how I missed them. Oops. 0_o So I planted the ones that were sprouted but not leafed out yet in the cistern garden, and the ones with little leaves in two pots which I put in the fairy window indoors. I also emptied the rest of the bag of soil into the two pots, just in case. We'll see if any of these survive. Persistent little buggers. I think I like them.
EDIT 1/2/25 -- I planted most of the remaining milkweed seeds in the prairie garden. I still have a few left that I may try planting in outdoor pots.
I checked on the hollies and they still seem to be doing fine. :D
It's 4:45 PM and still dusky outside rather than dark. This is great because it means I can sometimes squeak in an extra round of yardwork on days when the weather is tolerable.
I am done for the night.

Poem: "How They Braid Together"
Jan. 2nd, 2025 08:26 pmThis poem is spillover from the November 5,, 2024 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from

nsfwords. It also fills the "Three Sisters Soup" square in my 11-1-24 card for the Sleepytime Bear Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by a pool with
