Tension Releasers
1. Exercise or play sports.
In particular, when survival mode responds to a nonphysical threat, try to find a place where you can do some brief but intense exercise. If you sprint for 5 minutes, your lizard brain will think you've outrun the tiger and can rest now. It's alert, but not very smart, and easily tricked.
